[ WEEK TWO – INVESTIGATION ]

INVESTIGATION

The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:

One of your own is gone.

And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.

Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for the mod replies. Anything to discover or not to will be indicated during the course of the thread.

After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. If there are any questions, please shoot a message either to this journal or at [plurk.com profile] robowest.

[Sei's first thought is that at least this time it was someone who has already lived a full, long life - but then she immediately feels guilty for thinking it. No, surely von Karma deserves better than that...]

He didn't seem like much of a fighter, but... if he was struck in the chest, that means he was brave enough not to flee from his killer.

[She probably shouldn't admire that, but. She does. Injuries from behind are shameful, after all.]

[does he, thoβ€”

noct doesn't know to have a strong enough opinion on the guy, but it's still pretty messed up. who goes after an old guy, right? pretty messed up.]

Unless he was blindsided. Hard to say which it was... but if it's like you say, pretty noble of him, I guess.

...in my experience, it's not easy to blindside someone head-on. Especially if the weapon was the sword that goes in that scabbard.

[She nods to indicate it.]

He might not have seen a smaller weapon coming, but something of that size...? If he tried to flee, the wound ought to have at least been from his chest to his side... probably.

Can't really say for sure. If it was dark in there, maybe he didn't see it coming or something. He had the note in his hand pretty tight...

Seems kind of weird if he saw it coming and still just held onto that part.

[noct's not sure. he doesn't really have experience with blindside frontal attacks that way because of his warping abilities.]
feminitis: (say what now?)

I'll bring my own sword to the trial tomorrow. We can test it out... um, while it's fully sheathed, of course.

[Haha, experimenting to see if they can duplicate the wounds sure would be a dumb way to die.]

...if he knew what was coming, maybe he made a point of holding onto it so that it could help us tomorrow.

[THEN AGAIN, would the Sheriff have really allowed it to remain if it was going to be that useful...]

Guess it could be that too. I'm not really sure, the whole place is a mess in there, so it's tough to see what happened.

[it may have been a struggle beforehand? who knows... noct is so bad at detective work without his tactical guide bros.]
