The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:
One of your own is gone.
And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.
Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for the mod replies. Anything to discover or not to will be indicated during the course of the thread.
After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. If there are any questions, please shoot a message either to this journal or at robowest.

BONFIRE
[she slows to a trot when she reaches the bonfire, gaze harrowing, as she looks for anything out of place. she's focused particularly on the ground, and is especially on the lookout for something shiny]

There's—there's—no one here...!

But well, thank goodness someone finally took a look because as the girls approach the bonfire, they'll notice something not supposed to be there.
As in, some clothes.
They seem pretty burnt up at this point but not far gone enough for them to not notice the frills on the edge of the pile.
There is also some blood on the ground and splattered against the restaurant porch. ]

Why...[breath] Why were you locked in there? Why rush here?
no subject
We heard a gunshot come from this direction last night.
I believe someone was shot here.
[not answering the "why were you locked in there" question, tho]

[Elizabeth will check out the charred pile, kneeling down to search through it.]
Why only the clothes?
no subject
Natalie was too injured to return to the hotel, so Yuna and I spent the night at the clinic with her. The Sheriff must have locked us in.
[stands up, and then strolls over to where Elizabeth is rifling through the clothing]
Do they look familiar?
[the frills remind her of a certain murder happy blonde]
no subject
[She frowns in contemplation as she lifts some of the burnt fabric, holding it up to show.]
Only one of us dressed this extravagantly. I didn't know her, but a garment like this once was is hard to miss.
no subject
[reaches out to gently tug on one of the frills]
This does seem like something she would wear. But it's too early to tell whether she was the one killed here or not.
[since this is pre-body announcement and there is no Nui body lying around]

You're right. And tell them about the gunshot we heard, as well as the blood spatter near the bonfire and restaurant porch.
[she had hoped to find a gun or, at the very least, a bullet casing. . . but. ah well]
no subject
Can we get in here?!
no subject
[god why does everyone think Milla is calm and reasonable she obviously isn't being hotheaded enough here]
I don't think we need to. Be careful-- remember the clinic exploded when it was opened.
