It's... quiet. The morning is quiet and dull and even the animals lingering on the fringes of town seem a bit at a loss for what to do. The town as a whole seems to be waiting with bated breath, for the outcome of the tie.
A few moments later Tarvek and Nisha follow him out, leashed to him by a rope binding their hands and a blindfold around their eyes. In the Sheriff's other hand are two pistols. He'll lead them to the center of the town and place a pistol in each of their hands before pulling out a knife and cutting the ropes binding them. He pulls off the blindfold afterwards.
He turns back to the town after, glancing at the few stray animals that have set up on the porches to watch. A crow nearby caws out from on top of the Saloon sign. The Sheriff looks to the hotel and a moment later, the bells on top of the church begin to ring. He calls out, louder than naturally possible,
"Execution time, folks! Nisha Kadam and Tarvek Sturmvoraus have elected to duel to the death. Come and witness."
And then, as indifferent as ever, he pops a piece of tobacco.
He offered us a material reward first thing, for accepting the job. And there are tools for us down in the mines. They're only meant for us to do our job, though... we're not supposed to use them for reward kills. And we don't have any more information on who's doing those killings or any of the other roles than the rest of you.
Based on my conversation with the Sheriff about Undertaker, I thought he was the one to kill them. I had no idea there was an entire role dedicated to it.
[ Nisha thinks about that one for a while before answering. ]
...I know where some parts of them go, but I'm not gonna tell you and endanger the other miner. I don't think I have any answers you're looking for, anyway.
...Whatever's coming to me for playing the game straight to the end. I'm hoping the end isn't tomorrow, even if I die. Guess we'll see. Y'all better shape up for the rest of it.
Well, I can tell you a little about the skeleton pit. Sheriff says they've had this game going for a quite while. In different settings, too, but the pit moves around. They keep the bones around for atmosphere.
That's all the details I've got, though. Not sure that really... clarifies anything.
It isn't anything I hadn't already assumed myself, when we first found the pit. It's nice to know, however, that the mines have a more specific purpose.
[other than just being creepy and full of handsy skeletons]
They're just doing their job. Their kills don't count as part of the game, either. Not gonna encourage you to hunt 'em down, since y'all don't seem to be particularly discerning.
