It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest. |

[He shrugs, right before starting to pry the first board off.]
But I'm not much of an optimist. So be ready for anything.
no subject
I'm no optimist either. Knowing this place, it'd escalate just to screw us over.
no subject
[He's
joking.
Probably.
BUT, YEAH. Are they going to hear anything coming through the walls before the board comes off? Or will they have to take a look to discover something sp00ky, once they get part of the window unblocked?]
no subject
When they pry open the board though, they'll get a look inside even if it's too dark for detail. It looks like one big room -- wall full of letterboxes and another full of bank tellers. An empty space of floor between the two.
Oh but, hm. The teller booths look like they each have someone in them. Weird. ]
no subject
Shinnosuke's still ready to jump away from the window or bash something with his shovel or whatever, but until something happens, he'll be peering in.]
... You're seeing what I'm seeing, right? In the booths?
[That's not ominous or anything.]
no subject
Jason squints into the window, trying to make out if there's any sort of terrible red light like there was in the Clinic, but... hm.]
Yeah. Four figures, one in each booth. Not exactly the giant robots I had in mind, but ten bucks say they'll shoot something at us if we're not careful.
[Pulling back, frowning.]
What do we do now? Unless we find a convenient backdoor, the only way in is through the front.
no subject
[Likewise, he pulls back, mulling over this.]
Didn't see any kind of security device, but it's not like we could see much of anything to begin with. We could try checking for another entrance just in case, but...
[They're probably not going to be that lucky??]
Going through the front looks like it might be our only option.
[Or they could, like, try busting down a wall, but that's... not any less subtle...]
no subject
[He looks at the building again, but, nah. There's a small noise of frustration here, because either they go in or they don't. Standing around isn't going to help them make that choice.]
How about this: We take the rest of the boards off this window, and try shooting one of the figures from a couple yards away. If something happens, the distance will give us a head start.
[Or not.]
no subject
[So he guesses that they... might as well?? Though it's probably very questionable that their plan so far is LET'S SHOOT PEOPLE.]
You want to shoot? You seem to be a better shot than me.
no subject
[So... yeah. That's a thing. Let's just pretend they start removing the rest of the boards here, for a clearer shot.]
Obviously. You stand back. I'll do the shooting. Worst case scenario happens, I'll be the one in direct line of sight.
[To be fair, he plans to aim for something non-vital. But also??? They don't know if those are truly people???? Jason's placing his money on corpses or robots, honestly.]
no subject
Got it. I'm not going to be responsible for any injuries you obtain, for the record.
[He steps back and slightly to the side, so as to minimize how much he's in sight while still being able to see inside.
And he'll get his gun out anyway, just in case, as he leaves his shovel on the ground, a short distance away.]
Ready.
no subject
[Stop.
But with the boards gone and the two of them away from the building, Jason sets his shovel down and takes out his own pistol. He then gets into position, takes aim—]
Here goes nothing.
[—and fires at the nearest figure, trying to make the shot as least immediately lethal as possible just in case. Maybe it hits. Maybe it doesn't. Only the Squee behind the curtain will tell??? It's not like their view of the place is any better from here, man.
So, yeah. What now?]
no subject
The shot hits! It's too dark to really make out details and the angle is a bit off but they'll see a splattering of liquid as the figure slumps over, sliding out of the teller chair and onto the floor.
A moment later, there is the sound of skittering. ]
no subject
As soon as Shinnosuke hears skittering, he jumps back, his grip tightening around his gun as he holds it up. What the hell, is there some kind of creature in there??]
Good or bad sign...!?
no subject
[OH, MAN. OH, BOY. WAS THAT A PERSON. WE JUST DON'T KNOW.
The skittering, though. The fucking skittering. That's the only thing making him hesitate because that figure sure did spurt some kind of liquid before slumping over — and his brain automatically defaults to blood.]
Ugh— Stay here! [Don't give orders to people older than you.] Anything happens, you get the hell out of Dodge and get help!
[Rest in pieces, Jason Todd. Because here he goes, grabbing the shovel before moving to take a closer look.
He has to make sure it wasn't a person???????? FUCK.]
no subject
For realsies though because that liquid is sort of all over the booth. Dark and shiny and dripping down the walls. What the hell?
The skittering grows louder. ]
no subject
Shinnosuke knows he should really do as Jason says, even if only for his own self-preservation regardless if Jason is screwed, because that would be the smart and practical thing to do.
... Instead, he bends down to pick up a rock with his free hand, before approaching Jason and the window.]
Move. We're going to have to deal with... whatever's making that noise, sooner or later.
no subject
They seriously need a babysitter, though. Between his panic over all that liquid on the booth and the skittering that keeps growing louder, it takes him all of two seconds to notice the rock in Shinnosuke's hand.]
What? No! [STOP??] We don't know what's making that noise. I'm not moving, and you're backing the hell up now.
[Just shove him. Just make him eat dirt like a petulant 5-year-old. He deserves it.]
no subject
Brats should listen to their elders, you know. You back up.
[So yeah, he's shoving Jason out of the way!! And then he'll throw the rock through the bullet hole AND THEN SCRAMBLE AWAY IF HE CAN.]
no subject
Enough light to show that that liquid splatter is very, very red.
And also, the skittering stops. Instead it is replaced by a hissing, the type that sounds like a gas leak. ]
no subject
THANKS, SHINNOSUKE?????]
—You idiot!
[Alas, the window is dead in the moment it takes for him to regain his footing. Nothing to do about that except cover his nose and mouth as the hissing starts, and then back away before the whole thing can blow.
... Or backing away is what he would do, if he didn't catch sight of the very, very red liquid splattered all over the booth. He immediately pales, breath held and hand over his face as he stares at the scene. Half a second later, and his eyes dart to whatever (whoever) may be in the four booths — if it's visible at all.
Please be a bro and drag him away before something worse can happen, Shinnosuke.]
no subject
You're the idiot here!?
[Because why are you not moving???
And thus, all of Shinnosuke's scrambling away was all for naught because he's forced to dart back and grab Jason because seriously, let's get away, please??]
no subject
Wait, cut it out! [Breathing in is probably a bad idea, but he's doing the best he can, pulling the collar of his shirt over his nose.] There's blood in there! The figure I shot, it—
[HE GLANCES BACK???]
It might have been a person. I might have shot someone! [So, bye bye chill.] If that's the case, we can't just leave them in there.
no subject
It's a trap. It has to be. If you go in, I'm not bailing you out.
[Whiiiiiich is totally a lie, he'd jump in after Jason even though that's probably the stupidest move possible.]
no subject
[Which is, uh, why he's actually kind of scared shitless here. It's obviously a trap. Doesn't change the fact that two of their own are missing, that liquid looks a lot like blood, and if he shot a person and not a humanoid machine like he had assumed? Then he has to own up for it.]
But if there's even the slightest chance there's someone in there, and they're hurt because of me? I don't care if it's a trap. I'm not leaving them to die.
[So.
Yeah.
Bye, Shinnosuke. Armed with the shovel and the gun, Jason will take another look into the the building and make what is probably the second worst decision of his life, breaking whatever is left of the window in order to slip in. Time to die again by walking into certain doom to help someone(?) who might not deserve it.]
