In the morning, the town comes back to life. Birds crow overhead, a snake nearby hisses, a lingering coyote dips behind a shop before disappearing into the wild. It's a frightening contrast to the stillness of yesterday but it doesn't mean it's over yet. After all, today is the trial.
The Sheriff stands on the porch of the Town Hall and brings his hand up to his mouth to let out a whistle. He'll thumb back to the Hall behind him and very clearly state --
"Trial time, folks. Get in here and figure out who did it."
And then he'll turn to leave before pausing and adding on,
"Bring a snack or somethin' too.
The Town Hall is set up more like a court house, a Judge's bench at the front but instead of at center, it's off to the side as if more for observation than participation. There's a table at the front of the room already holding a small box and a pad of papers and pen, for voting apparently. A side room containing only a metal gurney is next and today it's obvious why there's a gurney there at all with the corpse, resting right on top of it. Aside from that, there are rows for everyone to take a seat and it's only after everyone is inside and settled, that the doors close and the Sheriff speaks.
"Well, have at it. You've got till nine."
And then, he points to a clock on the wall that reads 12:00. Good luck.
Welcome to the trial post! Characters are free to discuss everything related to the trial here. They won't be let out of the room until 9PM when voting ends. Every character must vote and the voting post can be found here.

Old man, can you explain the roles better? Like the Deputy.

Sure. Deputy had the ability to put a person in the stocks and make them more vulnerable and likely to die on Thursdays or put someone in the jail cells and protect them. They also helped me with organizing stuff, helping set up and disposing of bodies when I couldn't do everything by myself. Or just generally setting things up, like the bonfire. Hannibal in particular was handy 'cause he'd be open to killing someone who wasn't playing the game or if I just wanted more blood that week since he knew he'd get away with it 'cause you're all morons. Deputy also has access to every place in the town because I give 'em a master key. Can go in all the rooms in the hotel and all the buildings, boarded up or not, without being attacked.
Also, if he killed the Bounty Leader, he could've picked how to end the game.
The Bounty has the duty of spending the first few weeks talking to people to try and figure out who the Bounty Leader is and assist them -- none of the Bounties know each other at game start. It's about networking. Once the Bounties find each other, they have to work together to help the Bounty Leader in whatever way they want. The Bounty Leader has to find and kill the Deputy to end the game too. S'why it's important to have the Bounty support so they can have more eyes looking.
They also kill any Bandits who refuse to participate in their role. If a Bandit ever decided not to kill, I'd have the Bounty kill them.
And the Doctor chose an item every week that would either help or hurt everyone in the game. I'd usually give the items Wednesday -- stuff like the deer or the camera or what have you. That was the Doctor. The Doctor also has the ability to revive one person completely -- if the person dies Thursday, they'll come back Monday, after the trial. That person who is revived will have full memories of their death and who killed 'em and whatever.
That help?

[ comeback of the goddamn year right here
also immediately after calling hal stupid, she will ask ]
Since Hannibal died... do we just have to keep killing each other then until everyone is...
no subject
Yeah, probably. Bounty Leader didn't kill him, so it doesn't count. Last man standing is the only route left.
no subject
Oh... And the last person can decide what happens to everyone who died?
