[ WEEK ONE ]

WEEK ONE

CURRENT POPULATION: 40

It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.

... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!

After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to [plurk.com profile] robowest.

They're trying to provoke everyone. Unfortunately, it's working.

[for some people. she's ignoring her own posters, tyvm]

They must have been watching us for quite some time. How they managed to do it without being caught is beyond me.

Yeah, they're pretty good at being annoying. Plus tensions are kinda high. Makes it easier.

[He's got good self control other than a bit of wall punching, thankfully.]

Right, they gotta have been watching for... [He glances at the poster again.] ...well, years. I'm pretty good at staying undetected, so this is some impressive intel.

I mean, knowing some of it, that's not that strange, but this much...

Knowing this much is unsettling.

[she says bluntly, and without much emotion in her voice to indicate what she thinks of the whole ordeal. she glances at his poster again]

. . .

May I ask how you stole a funeral? My curiosity is getting the best of me.

No kidding.

[Oh... boy, yeah, he kinda expects people to start asking questions. Some of this is kind of... out there.]

Right, that job. [The funeral part isn't really what he remembers most about that one.] I mean... Stealing's not entirely accurate. It was more like we borrowed it. Used it to blend in, keep an eye on the... mark.

[It's a little too honest, but hey, he's already down for theft here, might as well be honest about the whole con business now.]

Easiest way of staking out a funeral home is pretend you're one of the mourners.

[thankfully he's talking to someone who doesn't really mind the theft OR the con]

Ooooh, I see. That isn't really theft at all, so I wonder why the wanted poster frames it as one?

It's... It's this thing my boss says. [Technically speaking Nate's the boss, anyway, so let's. just go with that.] He'll think of some crazy goddamn plan, say "let's go steal "whatever"", and walk off.

...He's real dramatic. It's not helpful.

[personal profile] thatsthespirit 2017-01-19 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
. . . ah!

[SHE GETS IT]

So it's a dramatic saying in order to inspire and energize his employees!

[well, maybe. sorta. kinda. . .]

Honestly, humans come up with the most interesting of phrases.

...I mean, that's a nicer way of putting it than I'd use, but. Yeah, that's about the intent, I'm pretty sure.

That, and he likes being all cryptic. S'just kinda how he is. [Nate's family, but goddamn does he make Eliot tired sometimes.] Got used to it, it's just... part of the whole thing now.

[...More importantly, though...]

The hell do you mean by "humans", anyway. 'Cause you look pretty human to me.

[boy does she know a thing or two about how big of a headache cryptic people can be COUGH ALVIN COUGH]

[but she addresses his question first]

That's because twenty years ago I took a human form. It's only recently that I've been learning so much more about your culture, though.

[she sounds like a zoologist excited to study lions, or. . . something like that]

[He's heard so much unbelievable crap the past several days that he's not even sure how to respond anymore. So at first he doesn't. Then he just rolls his eyes a little.]

...So like field research. Right.

You're a real weird one.

I didn't take on a human form for do "field research."

[but the whole explanation is pretty complicated, so she doesn't go into it]

And I've been told that before. But have you ever thought that your species may come off as weird to me?
