 CURRENT POPULATION: 40
It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest. |

[monday]
[Who's in charge of compiling these wanted posters? Because Riku would like to have a word with them.
He finds the first one with his face on it outside of the general store. Passerby might notice him standing with his arms folded, frowning at it.]
Looking like a...?
All right, who's the wise guy that came up with these?
[And why is the information for Ansem on there too?]
[monday afternoon]
[Riku isn't a religious person in the slightest, but in his travels he's found enough quiet places to appreciate churches in his own manner. He can be found in the town's church, taking solace in the heavy atmosphere that it brings. He's thinking about a lot.
At one point, he steps into the confession booth--not because he plans on confessing anything, but because here he can truly be alone with his thoughts. But is there anybody on the other side?]
How do you know if they're telling the truth or not?
[any time this week]
[The idea of sharing a bedroom with somebody he doesn't know in the slightest is one giant No Thank You to Riku. He's grabbed his room key, sure, and he's even poked his head into the room long enough to see Soul Eater on his bed (quickly recovered, thank you!). But like hell is he staying there.
No, by the time the sun set on their first night in the town Riku had settled himself quite nicely into the barn at the homestead, climbing up into the hayloft and choosing a spot near the back on top of the bales to make his "camp." He's been sleeping there ever since, and can generally be found coming and going from it morning and night.
He's probably got hay in his hair.He hasn't decided whether he'll obey the curfew listed in the rulebook yet, but it didn't say anything about sleeping outside the hotel during the week, right?]
[wildcard!]
[Grab him by his stupid hair and drag him into the saloon! Prevent him from destroying his tombstone in the graveyard! Shove him into the watering hole! I'm up for all sorts of shenanigans. Hit me up at
Say, Tuesday Evening
Taking a night stroll?
[Such an asinine greeting, made just to make sure Riku knows he's there]
no subject
[Riku turns to look at Tarvek. He's seen him a couple times, but never gotten close enough to approach.
Looks like that's going to change tonight.]
I could ask you the same thing. I don't think I've seen you out here at night before.
no subject
There must be some way to escape that doesn't involve killing thirty-nine people.
no subject
[Beat.]
Didn't the Sheriff say that there were other ways to win than killing people?
[Mind, the Sheriff also said that someone would die every week regardless, but still...]
no subject
[Tarvek sees nothing different around here]
The other ways I can think that doesn't involve killing is to find the way to deactivate the Sheriff or possibly find something that could allow us to control him.
no subject
I don't know about that. There's something bigger than the Sheriff out there. Something powerful enough to take away our powers. It can't be as easy as getting leverage over him.
no subject
[Tarvek is starting to consider that his lack of spark may not be just because he's tired. If everyone lost 'powers', then...things are worse than he thought]
no subject
But Riku decides to go with a simpler one. He takes Soul Eater from the sheath he's fashioned for it over his back, holding it out for Tarvek to see.]
Well, for one thing, I shouldn't have to carry this around. Back home I could summon it to my hand.

Monday
Whoa! Can you really read through that blindfold?
no subject
[Can he... Behind the blindfold Riku blinks, startled, but looks directly at the person speaking to him.]
Yeah, I can. I can see everything just as well as if I didn't have it.
[Ignoring the fact that he can't see things in the same way he did back in his own worlds. That's not important.]
no subject
[ Makes a peace sign. ]
no subject
Two, unless you're going to try and count the fingers of your other hand as well.
Who are you...?
[And why are you like... this?]
no subject
Oh, I'm Simon— and that's amazing! Is it a trick blindfold? Are you a magician? Can you read my mind?
no subject
[A split-second's hesitation.]
I'm just... Riku. No mind-reading, no tricks. Just me.
no subject
So hey, mind if I ask you a question?
[ He pauses here himself, and you probably don't need to read his mind to guess what he's going to ask. ]
Why are you wearing a blindfold?
no subject
Actually, no, really, he didn't. He's never actually been asked about it before.
Which brings up a good question: what does he actually tell him? "Oh, I just accepted darkness into my heart and even though I'm learning to control it, without the blindfold it overwhelms my physical body and makes it look like the guy that once possessed me--but it doesn't do that here so really I'm just wearing it because it's kinda like makeshift sunglasses and also aesthetic"?]
It's a long story.
[But he'd also rather keep people off his back asking about it. So surely a half-truth won't hurt, right?]
This place is a lot brighter than where I was before, though. It helps with that.

In what world is "existing" a crime? That seems cruel.
no subject
"First, we must dispose of Naminé. She did a splendid job with Sora, but it's high time she disappeared. Roxas isn't the only one who was never meant to exist."]
It might be more accurate than you think.
[He doesn't feel like elaborating. QUICK DISTRACTION TIME?]
You probably already know, but I'm Riku.
no subject
It isn't an existence that makes someone a criminal. It's what they decide to do with that existence.
[I mean, yeah, she's been on the end of "I need to kill this person because terrible things will happen if they keep living," but that's because those people had made awful decisions with their lives. their simple existence was another matter entirely]
[either way, she nods]
Milla. Milla Maxwell. A pleasure, Riku.
no subject
Besides. He's not sure she's wrong.]
Milla. I'm guessing you've got one of these out there too. [Nodding toward the wanted poster.] Is yours just as bad? Or am I just lucky?
no subject
I've been ignoring mine. There's nothing incriminating on it, and I'm certain it's only there to get a rise out of me.
[and she won't give the poster's creator's the satisfaction]
no subject
But Riku's just. Not looking, because if he starts thinking about it too hard he's going to lose his ability to make conversation. He is so bad at talking to girls.]
That sounds about right.
[Uhh... uh... what does he say?]
Have you talked to either of the girls they're holding in the jail?
[THAT'LL WORK.]
no subject
Hm? Oh, yes, I have. Why do you ask?
no subject
I've been scouting the area since we got here. I haven't had a chance to talk to them yet.
