 CURRENT POPULATION: 40
It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest. |
graveyard
One does not simply tell Mrs. O'Leary to slow down. The silence is shattered when a dark blur of puppy jumps over the white picket fence to crash into the graveyard. Immediately following there's also a teenage boy following after her, jumping the fence and landing on his feet in the dirt.]
Mrs. O'Leary, stop! [The dog does stop, finally, but only when she sees Xion and Pluto. She woofs in a friendly manner, tail wagging as she sniffs at both of them and whimpering in vague confusion at Xion as she walks closer. Percy, on the other hand, is busy wiping dirt off of his hands and onto his jeans as he gets a better look around.]
A graveyard. Not really my first choice for a place to hang out, but not the worst place either, I guess. [He shrugs, giving Xion a soft grin.] It's Xion, right? [I'M ASSUMING THEY EXCHANGED NAMES BEFORE DEPARTING AT LEAST, FIGHT ME.]
why are you like this, and also, why are you the person that you are
[ Xion almost falls over from the combined assault ant the surprise that came with it, but she manages to recover enough to pat Mrs. O'Leary on the head with a somewhat uncertain smile. Pluto can't seem to even begin to decide where to begin, whuffling excitedly back at Mrs. O'Leary before trotting over to excitedly headbutt Percy in the kneecaps. ]
Oh, um -- Percy! Hi. [ She laughs sheepishly. ] I ... wouldn't say I really hang out here. But not many people come by, so ... it's a quiet place to think, I guess. Um, is this your dog? [ With some forced cheerfulness, but hey, she's trying. ]
probably because we've been married for so long is my guess
Churches and graveyards are supposed to be like that, I think. [The hell does he know about churches? But He considers that for a moment, giving her another once-over before he nods.] Yeah. She was waiting for me the first day we got here which is pretty weird? Name's Mrs. O'Leary.
[...he'll just drop to actually sit in the dirt, don't mind him.] And this one's yours?
that's ..... probably true
The same thing happened to me! Pluto was waiting for me in my room. So yeah, he's mine. [ Pluto preens when she says it, as if proud, making Xion giggle. ]
... how'd they get here, though? I mean, why didn't they come on the train with us?
casually...smothers you...in love...???
You're the third person I've talked to this week that had a dog waiting for them. [The laughter's nice, at least. It's better than the solemn expression she had earlier. She reminds him of someone who often looks the same way.]
But even knowing that? We don't know how they got here before us. It's the same way we had room keys with our names on them and everything. Maybe we weren't supposed to know we would be here a while.
what do you mean casually. take this seriously dammit
There's a lot of us that have pets, huh? It's ... it's nice.
[ She glances up as he keeps speaking, her expression turning thoughtful. ]
... but why would it matter? None of us can even remember how we got here... [ She sighs. ] I want to stop thinking about these things, but there isn't much else to do.
but maybe I just want an open-smothering marriage!!!
Possibly even more. Have you been out to the farm yet? There's all kinds of animals out there.
[But at the same time...there is that.] The Sheriff kind of made it easy for us to focus on the problem without a whole lot of solutions. [And then, an observation.] You don't seem too entirely worried yet.
EXCUSE???? GO FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO BE OPEN-SMOTHERING WITH!!!!
[ She doesn't ... seem worried? Xion looks at Percy for a long moment, and then glances away. ] ... I've just been thinking and thinking, and ... no matter how hard I think about it, I can't see a way out. [ Quietly, in a small voice: ] There isn't any time to be scared.
TAKES THE MISTRESS OF THE DARK AND LEAVES HUFF HUFF
There's always time to be scared. [He was scared plenty of times in Tartarus. But:] But there isn't any time to let being scared stop you from fighting back. Between you and me I think there's something a little wrong with people who aren't a little scared, especially now.
Besides, there's lots of us trying to find a way out. We're bound to think of something really soon when we're all working together.
walk home :|
... yeah, you're right. Do you think we could still somehow get everyone together? I think ... not everyone will want to help, but we can talk to everyone who does.
I mean. I could. since I'm in my own town :|
Good. [And with that he moves on.] And I think so, but getting everybody to agree even if they want to help is going to be the problem. People are going to want to help in different ways. Have you talked to a lot of people yet?
i meant your real home. my apartment. walk here :|
starts..walking??? with my luggage + laundry :| I will be there by sunday
haha okay cool see you in two and a half days
It's hard! I've thought about it a lot. We could gather supplies and head out, but how far would we get? If only there was some way to map what's out there... or see everything from above. But .... there's no way we can do that, is there?
#bye
Somebody suggested that some of us go in one direction and some of us go another to start measuring stuff out, but I'm worried if we do that some people aren't going to come back at all. We don't know if out there is really better than here.
