It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.

... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!

After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

It's surprising how much you can still learn in life, even if it moves quickly.

[ He's truly lived for much less than what his poster says, to be honest... but he's seen a lot of lives go by. Regardless of that, the people he's met here have been decent, and it's not like a lot of the "crimes" they've committed can apply here. ]

A lot of people are younger than us. I would think a life cut so short is depressing, but that's also a reality here.

This life has served me well in that regard and I'm sure it still has much to offer.

[If there's one thing her life hasn't stopped doing it's teaching her things. Over and over and over again...

Though that last statement weighs heavily on Ana, as the thought has been since they'd heard the news. Maybe you're jaded but this woman isn't, even though she's spent a better portion of her life killing people so young... Probably even younger too.]

While I agree with you, I still think we should do all we can to prevent those so young from falling into harms way. Our actions can only do so much but we may still have a chance at keeping them safe.

[Something is always better than nothing and Ana isn't about to go belly-up.]

[ Well he didn't expect that. Usually older people grow to be quite jaded, as it were. Even he is, despite his otherwise carefree attitude. But he smiles and nod in understanding. ]

[ Maybe she's heard it before, that might come with the healing/sniper combination. Skillfulness and compassion. ]

I understand. To minimize tragedy is winning in its own way, and maybe unexpected when the sheriff's employers don't think highly of us.

[You're right, it's nothing she hasn't heard before. Honestly she's been wrestling with it for years if she agrees or not. Regardless.

Ana shrugs, speaking solemnly.]

Hopeful as I am that we can protect the others and help them, if they want to participate in this game then I'm afraid there is little we can do in that regard. But if there's anything to be done we must do it.

[She looks him in the eye, offering him a wry smile.]

We want to do a good job of living, right?
