It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.

... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!

After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

[This is like childhood come to life and it's both awesome and really freaky but okay! Percy apparently doesn't mind getting a little dirty as he lets Pluto lean in, scratching at the dog's sides and behind the ears and everything. Mrs. O'Leary, eventually, finds herself standing so her paws rest on Xion's legs, waiting for her to acknowledge her one more time. Hugs are fine, small child. You're lucky you got a friendly hellhound.]

You're the third person I've talked to this week that had a dog waiting for them. [The laughter's nice, at least. It's better than the solemn expression she had earlier. She reminds him of someone who often looks the same way.]

But even knowing that? We don't know how they got here before us. It's the same way we had room keys with our names on them and everything. Maybe we weren't supposed to know we would be here a while.

[ Xion looks a little delighted when Mrs. O'Leary jumps up on her. Cue kneeling and wrapping this adorable hellhound up in her arms. She giggles a little when she does it, too, before letting go to just start petting her. ]

There's a lot of us that have pets, huh? It's ... it's nice.

[ She glances up as he keeps speaking, her expression turning thoughtful. ]

... but why would it matter? None of us can even remember how we got here... [ She sighs. ] I want to stop thinking about these things, but there isn't much else to do.

[There's a satisfied "woof" from Mrs. O'Leary before she licks Xion's face and settles for petting. Percy keeps his focus shifting from his dog to Xion to Pluto and back, keeping himself aware of his surroundings even as they talk.]

Possibly even more. Have you been out to the farm yet? There's all kinds of animals out there.

[But at the same time...there is that.] The Sheriff kind of made it easy for us to focus on the problem without a whole lot of solutions. [And then, an observation.] You don't seem too entirely worried yet.

The ... farm? There's a farm? [ Apparently not. ] Maybe I'll go soon...

[ She doesn't ... seem worried? Xion looks at Percy for a long moment, and then glances away. ] ... I've just been thinking and thinking, and ... no matter how hard I think about it, I can't see a way out. [ Quietly, in a small voice: ] There isn't any time to be scared.

[...yeah he's going to drag her there himself, but first this is important.]

There's always time to be scared. [He was scared plenty of times in Tartarus. But:] But there isn't any time to let being scared stop you from fighting back. Between you and me I think there's something a little wrong with people who aren't a little scared, especially now.

Besides, there's lots of us trying to find a way out. We're bound to think of something really soon when we're all working together.

I'll never stop fighting back. [ There's a conviction in her voice, layered under a nasally kind of upset, but it's sincere. She means that, especially if the look on her face is any indication. ]

... yeah, you're right. Do you think we could still somehow get everyone together? I think ... not everyone will want to help, but we can talk to everyone who does.

[He doesn't react beyond raising an eyebrow. He likes that answer though, even if he wonders where it's coming from.]

Good. [And with that he moves on.] And I think so, but getting everybody to agree even if they want to help is going to be the problem. People are going to want to help in different ways. Have you talked to a lot of people yet?

Different ways... [ Xion hums. ] Um, maybe? I'm not really sure what qualifies as a lot. There's so many people here. [ Somewhat sheepishly. ] How about you?

[He flashes another easygoing smile.] More than two, at least. It's been hard to catch some people, I don't know where everyone goes during the day. But I've talked to quite a few. Everybody seems to have the same idea of wanting to get out of here but nobody's come up with a solution.

[ Xion nods rapidly, lighting up with purpose ]

It's hard! I've thought about it a lot. We could gather supplies and head out, but how far would we get? If only there was some way to map what's out there... or see everything from above. But .... there's no way we can do that, is there?

Not unless somebody knows how to summon a giant bird. Or a helicopter. [Too bad Rachel won't magically appear like she did last summer. Part of him wonders if she can see where they are. That's a depressing thought though and he pushes it away.]

Somebody suggested that some of us go in one direction and some of us go another to start measuring stuff out, but I'm worried if we do that some people aren't going to come back at all. We don't know if out there is really better than here.
