CURRENT POPULATION: 40 It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings. ... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours! After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts. This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. [ Visibly startled by the physical contact. Xion raises her hands as if she might do something, and then just ... lets them drop. ]

... he didn't seem that bad to me ... [ said softly. More clearly: ] I still agree, though. We have to put a stop to this! ... what's your name? I'm Xion.

I'm Papika.

[ she's frowning slightly though. ]

Why don't you think he's bad?

Um...

[ Xion tilts her head, looking sort of uncertain. ]

It doesn't seem like he feels ... malice, or anything? Or like he's enjoying what's happening. To him, it's just like ... a job, or orders. Isn't he kind of trapped, just like the rest of us?

[flippity]

If the orders are bad, should you still follow them though?

[ papika drops her hands from xion's shoulders. ]

[ That produces a long silence, in which Xion stares down at the ground. ]

What if ... you don't have a choice?

[flippity]

Ummmm...

[ she plops down onto the ground, crossing her legs under her. ]

What are the choices then?

[ceded]

Well... like, what if he doesn't do his job, and just gets replaced? I know he's a robot, but ... that'd be like dying for him, right? So he has to do his job or get eliminated. And why would he sacrifice himself for us? He doesn't know us.

[flippity]

But isn't that sad? Even if he doesn't know us, being okay with watching a bunch of people die just to save yourself isn't good!

[ceded]

... it is sad. It's horrible. [ Her expression is a little sad. ] But ... I feel sorry for him. What we're going through is horrible, too, but ... I guess all I'm saying is, I don't think he's bad.

[flippity]

[ papika... still does not like him, and she definitely wants to fight the guy. challenge him to a fist fight or something. ]

Mmm, no matter what we still have to get past him though!

[ceded]

[ xion ... wouldn't stop her, provided she didn't know these fisticuffs were taking place. ]

Yeah... that's true. But how can we? And ... what would we do once we did?

[flippity]

[ she thinks over the question. and thinks.... and thinks... until she lets out a frustrated groan and just lays down on the dirt. ]

I don't know! It's hard to do something when we don't know anything! But um... since we don't know anything, we need to do something? This stinks.
