It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.

... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!

After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

[ Without looking up, Chane shakes her head. There's always the possibility that she caused undue harm without knowing it, especially in this new and bizarre town, but - the Sheriff's own poster is up there. Unless he felt like being contrary or, indeed, pissed himself off as well (?), then that's not an accurate measuring stick for how and why people end up MOST WANTED.

Pinning her own poster back up, she gestures to the Sheriff's with a puzzled expression, briefly looking over her shoulder at Jason in lieu of a greeting. ]

That's a no, huh.

[A shake of the head is easy to understand, at least. But when she gestures at the Sheriff's poster, it takes him a beat to try and sort out what she means.]

Maybe he put it up as a cute little "Meet your Sheriff" sort of deal. [Though his tone alone is a hint he doesn't believe that for a second.] Or — maybe it's a challenge. Bounty hunters in old western movies go wild over people on the most wanted list, right? By that logic, he could be telling us to try and kill him. See how well that ends for us.

[Especially with all the comments during the meeting, about how killing Hal wouldn't be very satisfying. Hm.]

[ The first suggestion, she dismisses easily and without giving it much consideration. The second one, well - it's not impossible, but Chane has her reservations. The Sheriff had not seemed especially excited about his responsibilities in this ... game arena. Making boasts and pre-emptively responding to threats is an effort she's struggling to picture him making.

Too many questions, not enough answers. Chane abandons the posters for the time being, giving Jason her undivided attention.

Writing something down, holding it up. How are you adjusting? ]

[He takes a second to read what she's written, and then he offers her a one shouldered shrug.]

Pretty well. We have food and a roof over our heads. It could have been way worse. [They could have had to sleep on like, cardboard. Next to a dumpster. Yikes.] What about you? Run into any trouble?
