CURRENT POPULATION: 40 It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings. ... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours! After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts. This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. [It is when you're in a game full of weirdos, Papika. Still, he's lost in his thoughts and though he doesn't spot her, he can hear her right at the last minute thanks to battle reflects. It's the only reason he doesn't jump, or, like, push her into the lake. Instead he looks up with a slight grin.]

I'm hoping some of the fish might come out if they're being spoken to. [It probably sounds like he's being funny, and he's hoping that's how she takes it, but no he's incredibly serious about that. It doesn't help that he's looking back at the water immediately.] There's bound to be some, right?

[ unfortunately for percy, she is going to take him very seriously. she sits down next to the water and leans over it, like she's trying to listen to. ]

I don't hear anything. You should just go in and try grabbing them.

[hydrokinetics]

Grabbing the fish? [He raises an eyebrow, but he can't help it when he smiles at the idea anyway.] I don't think they'd appreciate that.

[flippity]

Then how are you going to get them out?

[ since talking doesn't seem to be working. ]

[hydrokinetics]

Maybe going in and seeing where they are. The lake can't be too bad, can it?

[flippity]

Then let's go swimming!

[ said completely seriously ]

[hydrokinetics]

Right now? [He doesn't seem to object, seeing how his clothes are still the tiiiiniest bit damp like he might have had the same thought.] Are you a good swimmer?

[flippity]

Uh huh!

[ not son of a sea god level of good but. she won't die. ]

Are we gonna do it?

[hydrokinetics]

[Huh. Okay. Why the fuck not. He sits up a little taller to peer at the water again.]

It's not that deep. Let's go. [He's not diving in first this time, that was a Mistake.]

[ papika, who has not actually gone into the water yet at all, has no idea what it is like. so she is just gonna














jump in ]

[Why are kids this way? Percy watches her jump in and it doesn't take him long before he stands up, jumping back in as well. At least it's a pleasant temperature? He stays under the water for a few moments before kicking up to the surface, looking to make sure Papika can actually swim and didn't...you know, drown or anything.

That would be bad for everybody.]

[flippity]

[ FIRST DEATH

no she is breaking the surface shortly after him. no dead girls here, folks. ]

Are they talking to you yet?

[hydrokinetics]

[He's floating, though he does have one ear in the water anyway.]

Not yet...sometimes they don't really want to talk to me. [Which is very rude.] You? [May as well humor her.]

[flippity]

I can't talk to fish.

[ she sounds genuinely disappointed by this.

papika quickly ducks her head underwater, waits a few seconds, then reemerges. ]

Still can't!

[hydrokinetics]

[He shouldn't be laughing, but he is just a little.]

Maybe they're just really good at giving us the silent treatment. [That's good, Percy, pretend this is a game to cover the fact you're internally freaking out a little more.] Or maybe they're scared? We did kind of crash into their home.

[flippity]

Oh!

[ that is true. most people would not appreciate two strangers dive bombing into their living room.

papika is not one of those people because she has zero regard for personal space. but still. ]

We should apologize.

[hydrokinetics]

[While he knows how he would do it, he can't help but want to see this through.]

And how would we apologize to the fish if they're not listening to us?

[flippity]

We should get them a gift!

[ ... whatever fish would like as a gift! ]

[hydrokinetics]

Like bait? [Fish are particular okay.] I bet we could probably find some bugs and bait to lure them out. There's fishing supplies around.

[flippity]

I'll go get some!

[ she swims over to the shore and pulls herself out of the water. she sure is... soaked... but papika does not seem to mind. the only place that seems like would be the likely host for supplies is the shed, so she flashes percy a grin before running over to it.

there she go. ]

[hydrokinetics]

[There she go indeed. Percy's left blinking at the invisible dotted outline that once contained Papika and he chuckles to himself, swimming to the shore and climbing out of the water, too. His clothes are soaked still and he's still pretty annoyed by that, but it doesn't stop him from walking his way over to the shed to see what's in there.]

Make sure to leave some for everybody else. I know some people have been coming by to fish in the mornings, too.

[flippity]

Kaaayyyyy.

[ it's said somewhat absently, like she's only half listening as she digs through the shed's contents. fishing poles... nope. nets... nope. ]

I think I found worms!

[hydrokinetics]

You think? [Papika if they're somehow snakes or something he swears to the gods above...but he's moving a few empty tackle boxes out of the way to look over her shoulder.]

[flippity]

[ it's snakes

no they are worms. she picks up a bucket of them, and even puts her hand in to... take one out to show it to percy. gross. ]

Will this work?

[Oh my god why is this happening.]

That's perfect. Think you can carry that back out to the dock? I'll grab a net and a pole.
