It's time to go. Most people are on the train by now. Settled into their cabins and among friends and loved ones. There are only three new arrivals left to board and once they do, Hal pulls a conductor's hat out from underneath the bar, tugs it on, and steps around it to the middle of the train. He opens his mouth to talk, voice filling the train. "It's time to go. Stops happen once a day until everyone's departed and I already have your stopped listed. If you'd like to be prioritized, let me know, otherwise we'll go in order of death. Settle in and enjoy the ride. If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to ask, folks." This, of course, means that those who died earliest (Manfred, Higekiri) will depart first while those who died latest (Barnham, Damian, Percy) will depart last. There's a stop for everyone, though those who want to get off together are more than welcome to. Hal pulls a notepad and pen out of his pocket later and people will notice that he goes around the train confirming stops with everyone. Whatever feeling Hal may have had to a character back in town isn't noticeable here -- he is simply a robot assigned with a job. After that, it's all a matter of settling in and enjoying the ride. If that's possible for you, at least.

Considering how much you have, no. What is it?

I want my merit to go toward something good. Everyone gave it to me, so it should go back. Would it be enough to grant all of the remaining wishes and then some? Like...say...setting up a way to stay in contact across the universes. Is that physically possible?

[But also...] I also want something a little more selfish if that's okay.

Not widespread. Individual connections are possible if the two parties agree. It's binding two universes, after all, and not all universes can sync together like that.

[ A nod. ]

What is it?

Can they only connect with one person each? Or could I set up individual connections with, say, Papika and Damian if they both agree to it? Something like that. I know it's asking a lot but you managed to pull all of us from different universes in the first place. Figured it was worth a shot.

[If he wasn't so dead inside, he might look embarrassed. But instead, he just looks resigned.] ...I think I need a ring? Just in case.

If both Papika and Damian wanted an ability to communicate to each other, they'd have to both ask and agree to it and the connection will stay -- both ways. Letters, video, phone calls, those type of things. Communication essentially but physical meetings aren't something I can provide once you're out of my care.

[ As for the ring, he just pulls a small ring box out of his pocket and tosses it Percy's way. It'll, of course, be the exact ring Percy wants. ]

That's fine. It's the letters that I want. I want to be able to agree with people to send letters and phone calls because what's the point of having memories if we can't keep making more? That's what I want more than anything.

[He does catch the box with one hand, opening it and grinning slightly.] But thanks, man. [There's a lingering pause...and then:] ...I know this is your job. But is there anything my merit can do for you? [Followed by:] And not putting the rest of us in danger. Don't take advantage of that.

[sheriffexe]

[ Well, now he looks unimpressed again. ]

Of course not. I don't want anything. I never do.

Then that's everything. Thanks. [With that, he turns to leave. No more words, nothing. He wanted the communication lines open and he wanted a ring. Hal has done everything else. It's time to go face the music.]
