 CURRENT POPULATION: 40
It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest. |

Homestead
Graveyard
monday morning gosh
Well— [JUST. PRYING AWAY??? This is not a job for a teenager and a 10-year-old.] If this fails, I guess we could always use the Sheriff as a sledgehammer.
[Rest in pieces Papika and Sei's hands, tbh.]
ARE YOU READY TO HECK UP
[Some of the smaller, slimmer boards come off without very much fuss. The easiest ones seem like they might be attached to the windows on the side of the building rather than the door at the front. It also helps when Damian is on one end of a board and Jason is on the other.]
Shut up and--pull!
yes-- wait you weren't asking me
no subject
[Which means, yeah. He's pulling, rolling his eyes as he does. Why is Damian Wayne constipated at the ripe old age of 10? The world may never know.
But while the world may never get the answer for that, it'll (hopefully?) not be the same for whatever the heck that noise is. Jason stills, furrowing his brows as he tries to figure out if he's imagining it, or if there is truly something whirring behind the wood paneling.]
Wait — shh. Do you hear that?
no subject
Not if you keep talking. [But he's already stopped mid-pull of the board to listen to the strange whirring. He stares at Jason with his head cocked sideways, ear in the direction of the window.] Something's inside.
[It's a whisper.]
no subject
It sounds a bit like a buzzsaw. ]
no subject
No shit.
[He inclined his head towards the wood paneling, trying to make sense of it. This may or may not be a good idea, but the noise isn't getting any closer so he figures it's safe enough.]
... No one's been inside this building yet, right? [Milla checked the day of the investigation, he thinks.] Because it sounds like someone left their buzzsaw running.
[Do they continue pulling the paneling off? Probably. Yeah.]
no subject
It doesn't sound closer. Maybe they should move to the other side. Maybe moving to the other side will be worse.
Sharply, he gives the board under his hands a tug, tearing his end away.] Don't do anything stupid. If the glass shatters or wood splinters, jump as far back as you can. [Through the crack, he tries to look inside.]
no subject
But on top of it, there is a very large square thing right in the middle of the room, facing the door. It's too dark to show any detail to it though, just a large mass right in the middle of everything.
So, there's something waiting. ]
no subject
... Well? [Assuming the crack isn't big enough for both of their dumb heads............ sweats.] What do you see in there? Is someone getting their foot chopped off?
[He's joking. But. Buzzsaw.
Why else would there be one in a building marked as "Doctor"?]
no subject
Looking slightly more stunned than he would like to be, Damian leans back from the window and glances at Jason.] Just be glad we didn't go through the front door. [He gives Jason room to look, too. Which is absolutely, totally a great idea.]
There's something--a box. It must be what's making the noise.
no subject
But, the whirring just keeps going at the same pace it was before. Since they haven't proceeded yet, there isn't anything else that's changed. The box continues to just sit there. ]
no subject
But, yeah. Not much is going to happen if they keep dicking around outside. Once he's taken a look as well, Jason pulls away to take another look at the building. Considers the window again. Glances at the shovel.]
No way to tell what's inside from here. But we could hop in there without knowing if it's rigged to blow us up into a thousand tiny pieces, or... We could try something else first.
[Oh, yeah. Remember that thing about not being stupid? Smashing what they can see of the widow with the shovel probably counts as stupid. Sorry, but not sorry. At least he's yanking Damian out of the way just in case there's something motion activated in there.]
no subject
Don't be an idiot. We don't know what it's going to do. We can't just--TODD! [It's already too much that Jason is (typically) trying to tank the way in. On top of that, Damian doesn't appreciate being yanked suddenly out of the way. He's off-balance and unguarded, and he doesn't know if he'll be able to cat around and be prepared for whatever happens with the stupid box inside.]
Dammit!

graveyard obviously
Winston takes the cue and approaches, just high enough to be able to nose at Damian's hand from behind and push upwards until the hand is on his head. If Damian allows it, Winston will look upwards at him and wag his tail.
Will follows soon after, making enough noise to indicate his approach. He'll lift a hand in a wave if Damian looks over. ]
Do you want to bury it?
excuse me DO NOT WITH UR DOG
Then he looks back at the grave.] If we don't, coyotes will come to get it. They'll start digging up the graves.
How did it get here? Isn't this where you buried the girl?
no subject
That's very thoughtful of you.

Still, you're the one who brought them. It's kindness all the same.
no subject
They deserve them when they were alive to enjoy them. They didn't deserve to die at all in a sick game created by sick people.
no subject
[Elizabeth's expression and posture both harden.]
You're right, this can't go on. And I'm sorry they had to be the first to also be the last.
no subject
If we can't find a way to leave, they won't be the last. [He finally looks over at her.] More will die.
graveyard;
Ana's already there when Damien wanders by, and spares him a smile and a nod.]
Good afternoon. Out for a stroll?
no subject
[He's kind of upset about the cow??? It's just a cow, but he didn't think it should have died to fill other people's meat habits. Also, it was a good source of milk, and that's ten times more important than steak. (Especially after being tear gassed.)]
Do you know who did this?
