WEEK TWO

CURRENT POPULATION: 40 It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings. ... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours! Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss. This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. [He's out of breakfast food. That's his main reason for heading to the general store, but when he spots Papika up there he...can't even say he's surprised. So he stands back, tilting his head slightly before there's a small chuckle.]

You know, there're these really cool things called chairs if you're looking for a place to sit. [What are you doing up there, small one?]

[flippity]

It would be hard to bring one up with me!

[ that is not to say that she wouldn't give it a try. hm, maybe for next time. ]

[hydrokinetics]

I meant down here. What're you doing up there anyway? [The "how" apparently is irrelevant.]

[flippity]

Getting a different view!

[hydrokinetics]

And what have you seen from there? [Give him a second, he's scanning to figure out how she climbed in the first place. He may or may not be considering joining her.]

[ the support beams of the awning. ]

[ and the sheriff station. ]

[Eyeing the awning.

Eying the Sheriff's station...

...and 3, 2, 1, he's jumping to latch on, using his weight to pull himself up to join her on the roof, give him a second. Maybe the rock climbing wall at camp did some good after all.]

Can't be that exciting. [But he'll settle up there anyway.]

[flippity]

It's also a good place to take naps!

[ it's a terrible place to take naps. ]

I don't really feel like being anywhere else, so the roof is good.

[hydrokinetics]

The roof's good for anything but naps. You don't want to worry about vultures or anything pecking your eyes out, do you?

[There may or may not even be vultures around. All the same, he's already stretching out on the roof.] It gets a little too familiar after a while. This town. We're running out of places to go.

[flippity]

Hmmm, I can take on a vulture!

[ she says that with the amount of seriousness that anyone who would actually fight a vulture would say. ]

There's still those other buildings... the ones that we can't go in.

[hydrokinetics]

Don't take on a vulture, Papika. We need you to take on other stuff. [Like the Sheriff, probably.] What do you think is really in those buildings anyway?

[flippity]

I don't know... but um, we probably won't find out until we do more stuff that the old guy wants.

[ since he likes talking about rewards and stuff so much. ]

[hydrokinetics]

Does that mean you're going to play along for now? [Please be careful, Papilka...]

[flippity]

If someone does something bad, I'll help figure out what happened.

[ like with the previous trial. she's hoping things don't go down that route, considering ao and tiara weren't a part of this game, but considering how some of the people here seem a little crazy... ]

I'm not going to be nice to him though! I hate him.

[hydrokinetics]

[A solemn nod. He doesn't want to say that he's pretty sure this is going to keep happening, but that's good to hear.] We'll need your help, definitely. If we're all working together then the Sheriff has to acknowledge we're doing something good. Participation points. I don't like him either but we have to figure out how to work with him until we can work around him. You saw how mad he got last week.

[What a dick.]

It was the most emotional I've seen him.

[ he usually is just snarky and rude? ]

I've always been kind of confused if robots can really have emotions, but if we could get him to crack that way, maybe we stand a chance of getting him to feel other ways. Work in our favor. What do you think?

[flippity]

We can try! At least we know how to get him angry if we ever need that for some reason... He is very into rules.

[hydrokinetics]

Not sure we'd need him to get angry, but the rules thing isn't a bad idea. If we can get him to trip up on his own rules that might help us, too.

[flippity]

Umm, what should we focus on though? It's hard to pick if we don't have any reason to go to him.

[hydrokinetics]

What we should focus on right now is observing and see how he responds to other people, I think. There has to be people he gets along with here. Or as well as a robot can.

Xion likes him!

[ for some reason papika will never understand ]

We could watch how she interacts with him?

[hydrokinetics]

Not a bad idea. Seems like she might be the only one who does. [He doesn't get it either.] And he doesn't mind it so she's gotta be doing something right. Are you friends with her?

[flippity]

Um, she's nice! She sat with me yesterday and we talked a bit. I'd like to think that we're friends?

[ papika frowns slightly. ]

I'm not sure who I'm friends with here yet! [ she points at percy. ] You're my friend though.

[hydrokinetics]

She could use more friends. You both could. [And then, suddenly, he actually looks surprised when she says that.] Wait, me? You're sure?

[...it's nice though. He can admit that, at least.]
