WEEK TWO

CURRENT POPULATION: 40 It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings. ... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours! Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss. This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. Rare, but not as rare as I would have guessed. We have quite a few people that enjoy cooking, I've noticed. It's almost ill-fitting, but our kitchen never seems to be a lonely place for long.

[ With some vegetables chopped, he puts them in a bowl, then begins on the next set. They'll all be sauteed together, so he'll just mix them up for now. Though as he does, he'll at least explain what he's making. ]

Beef bourguignon seemed like a good choice. In retrospect, I perhaps shouldn't have thought otherwise, but I didn't realize that the animals around us would be how we kept ourselves fed. At least on one bright side, there is something to be said for meat that is quite fresh. It had an excellent texture, so I thought a bourguignon would be a good way to use it. That, and it takes up enough time that I won't be bored through the day.

[Strange, but it's not a bad thing in any way. At least they'll always have decent food.

Until all the chefs die.

BUT NO THAT CAN'T BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN.]

I see. [He nods, simply.] It is the natural place for our sources of food to come from, naturally. [he's from a medieval canon, this is normal.]

I do not see the purpose behind putting it into a grave, however.

It is indeed, though— Well, this is one of those points where the oddities of this place shines. To have such fresh meat is a bit unusual to me, but it may be quite expected for others.

[ He thinks of Ezio mostly, because he knows that time period well enough to have that comparison. Though even so, he shakes his head lightly. ]

...But even so, I agree. I'm just as baffled by the placement.

In many ways, adapting to the various other places we have all come from has been the most strenuous part of our stay here thus far.

[THERE ARE WIZARDS...... wizards. Before, there were just witches!!!]

It is morbid if nothing else--I do not fancy the thought that we shall receive a fresh animal for each murder committed here.

Really? I've found that part to be quite fascinating. It's... strange. I do not have an explanation for how or even why, and I imagine the Sheriff will not be inclined to answer either question. Normally I would not advocate ignorance, but in this case, it's been a bit more helpful to accept it as is and enjoy the stories and experiences of people from quite different places than Baltimore.

[ And elsewhere in the world, since Hannibal is well-traveled, but. It's also not really his point, since he's more interested in the people from different times. As a history nerd, he's loving that. ]

But, that aside, I do agree. It's a morbid enough coincidence that I almost wonder if it would be worth asking to butcher the animal at least on a different day. We may need meat, but having the two coincide is unfortunate timing.

[Yeah he has no idea what Baltimore is.]

Though it galls me to have to discuss this with the False Sheriff, I suppose that is the best we can hope for. If nothing else, it may lessen the associations inherent in receiving slaughtered animals immediately following the death of someone here.

[ He cants his head lightly in a small gesture of interest at the words "False Sheriff," since that's definitely one way to put it. He nods in agreement to the overall sentiment, but he ends up returning to that. ]

An interesting way to refer to his 'authority.' I take it that means you don't accept it at all?

[moraled]

Certainly not. He is a preposterous imposter, and a false man of the law. I do not intend to accept a single word he says.

[ shoutout from me for preposterous imposter because I love that alliteration ]

[ Hannibal can tell, and though his expression shows a bit of surprise and interest, he nods to agree all the same. It's light, but many of his gestures tend to be. ]

There is something to be said for a man who gives himself a position of power. Technically, those "above" him may have, but even that much sounds rather hard to believe.

[ He pauses, then adds: ]

I assume that means you would accept consequences, if there were any, for not accepting his authority?

Certainly, of course I do.

[It's fine, he got thrown in jail back home for this too.]

I do not protest only in theory, sir.

[He's gonna stand behind it.]

This is an unacceptable game, and cannot be allowed to stand.
