The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:
One of your own is gone.
And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.
Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for the mod replies. Anything to discover or not to will be indicated during the course of the thread.
After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. If there are any questions, please shoot a message either to this journal or at robowest.
[so apparently this is blown open now (thanks bats!!) and as soon as natalie notices that, she's looking inside, trying to tell what she can see from the outside without entering just yet.]
[she has an incredibly Bad Feeling about this, but she'll carefully enter so she can get a look at those other rooms, yep. she's making sure to walk slowly and look around carefully for any possible signs of trouble, though.]
[she mutters to herself, but she does follow the blood trail, taking the same amount of care as she steels herself and opens the door to the examination room.]
It looks pretty simple -- there's cabinets along two of the walls filled with supplies. There's an examination table and stool across from that. A skeleton with a labcoat stands decoratively in the corner. Some paintings. It's very quaint.
Well. It was very quaint.
A lot of the drawers are pulled out some of the supplies just sort of scattered along the floor. Natalie will probably notice that a lot of these supplies aren't very period specific, the little packages of gauze and needles definitely not something you'd find in the wild west.
On top of that, there's a heck of a lot of blood! Just sort of dripping all over and spread over the drawers and such. It seems like whoever was looking through these supplies was bleeding pretty badly in the midst of it.
There's also the matter of the side door, leading off to the office. A bloody handprint rests on the wall beside the door. ]
[UGHHHHHH 2.0!! okay, just. don't throw up or scream, this is fine and she can handle it (it's not fine at all and she is extremely ill equipped to handle it).
anyways, she can worry about the scattered supplies and anachronisms and literally everything else that's wrong with this picture later. right now she's just a little caught off guard by the copious amounts of blood. she does give the general chaos a passing glance, but it's brief; she can give everything a better look in a second. for now, she's heading to the office door, opening that carefully as well and making sure she doesn't step on anything that looks important on the way.
[ The office is very quaint. There's a small library of medical texts. There's a desk and a few desk chairs. A rug. A couch. It's all very nice.
Except sorry, Natalie! There is a body.
In that, as she opens the door, she will see Higekiri, bandaged and in bloody clothes, lying on the couch. It's kind of a mystery if he's still kicking though, you might want to check. ]
she doesn't want to touch him with her bare hands if he's a corpse by now?? is there anything she can use to kind of prod him with, that is clearly the better alternative...
either way, she's taking a few steps towards him while still maintaining a fair distance and speaking up.]
[has there ever been a day when a snore brought her so much relief? there has not.
for a moment she's assuming he'll be out for a while, so she's about halfway towards grabbing the rug to see if she can use it as a makeshift blanket for him when he speaks and she stops abruptly in her tracks. he saw nothing, nothing was seen.
[ He's the worst living person if he was more person. Anyway, she hears probably something like "a fight" before... He's back asleep. Someone might have taken a painkiller from the examination room, or he's just continuing to be weird. He is napping in a building that went kablooey after all. ]
[She pauses for a moment before it's obvious that he just fell asleep, not died. It earns a huff that's half relief and half annoyance, but she won't wake him up if he needs to sleep.
For now, she's heading out to check the examination room to give it a better once over. Anything stand out in the scattered supplies?]

And the reception area is still pretty scorched up.
How about checking the other two rooms? ]

There's some blood leading towards the examination room door. Follow? ]

Fuck. Of course. Great, wonderful, that's fine.

Hey. Hey, are you dead?
[excellently done as always]

Because all Higekiri does is snore and continue sleeping until Pear can come in and do the do. He's out like the, haha, dead. ]

...Hm?
[ He doesn't even get up, just rolls over. Five more minutes please. Let old people nap. ]
