CURRENT POPULATION: 35 It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings. ... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours! Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss. This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. THE TREE

[ A new feature has popped up again today. Outside the main town, towards the direction of the desert and close enough to see from the windows of the hotel, a large tree seems to have popped up overnight. It bursts right out of the cracked dirt with little reason or explanation for it's presence.

Well, that is until you get close to it.

On one of the its large branches, three rotting corpses swing side to side from the nooses around their necks. Higekiri, Manfred von Karma, and Sakyou Sagihara can be found bound up, swaying in the wind, heads covered in a poor attempt to leave them some amount of dignity. ]

[ Diego's found his way to the tree -- it's hard to miss, of course, for several reasons -- and is giving it a very critical eye ]

Is the health hazard and scavenger bait really worth the emotional effect? Most people here should be galvanized by this, even if demoralized...

Perhaps he took us getting angry over the dismemberment and incineration of Tiara's body last week seriously.

[she honestly isn't sure which method of disposal is better]

[As soon as Ezio gets close to the tree, his body tenses up. But he takes a deep breath and begins climbing the tree. He sits as comfortably as someone can as he takes out his hidden blade and works on cutting the ropes down from the branch. Feel free to help him or maybe take care of the bodies hitting the ground or just... talk to him.]

[Damian will help you get the bodies down, Ezio. :'( Bats at least have good acrobatic skills for climbing trees.

He also has a small dagger he can use for cutting.]

[He's too focused on the ropes to stop the boy from climbing up. But when Damian reaches the branch, Ezio looks to him.]

Grazie, but... you shouldn't have to do this, ragazzo. I can handle it myself.

[Too late. He's already climbed this far.] Va bene, vecchio.

[He lays the small blade against one of the ropes and starts carefully sawing.] You looked like you needed some help.

[He holds back saying anything else and instead focuses on the task at hand.]

Fine. It'll go by quicker.

[It's definitely not the time for this, but he still mutters,]

I'm not that old...

"Though my body is afflicted, my mind shall be unafflicted." [Near the last few threads of rope, Damian switches the knife between hands and lets the weight ripped through the rest of the way. But he holds the rope as long as he can, laid out across the branch on his chest to try to get the body as lower as possible before it drops.

It's still too high up in the tree for it be decent. But making someone stand down to catch is dangerous. He's frowning when he sits back up.]

It's a Buddhist teaching.

[The bodies in the tree are a gruesome sight. Riku's mouth twists when he sees it. It's one thing for all of this killing to go on, but this... this is just insult to injury.

There's already someone in the tree working on cutting them down. Riku nods in silent approval before approaching.]

When you're ready, I'll catch them.

[Let him help. It's the least he can do.]

[Tarvek shouts that when he finds the corpses hanging from the tree. The hell, Sheriff? What's even the point of this?! Tarvek can understand many of the moves the Sheriff has done, but this one is mindboggling, at least for the moment]

[ while that's delightfully morbid, even nui can't say that she's a fan of it - mostly because it's an eyesore. still, she smiles as she looks up at them. if they were lower to the ground, she'd give them a poke. ]

Yuck! They're gonna start to smell soon.

It's strange. Why were all those graves prepared if the Sheriff isn't even going to use them? What's the purpose of this?

[He doesn't understand. Who knows, maybe this week's corpses will be found half-buried in middle of the street, like daisies]

I don't know... Uhm. Maybe we can take them down ourselves and bury them..?

That might make... Their bodies be more at rest... If we mourn them. That's what we should do, right?

[Tarvek sighs, unsure of how to get them off the tree]

They deserve respect. Hanging them like criminals is a very low move.

Well... Aren't we all technically criminals here... Considering those wanted posters in the town...

Mr. Higekiri killed someone too... I guess it doesn't really matter.

While most of the posters have crimes written in them, we can't judge based on that. They lack context.

These are corpses. Leaving them in the open like this is disrespectful to them and dangerous for the town as a whole.
