[ WEEK THREE ]

WEEK THREE

CURRENT POPULATION: 35

It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.

... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!

Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss.

This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to [plurk.com profile] robowest.

hydrokinetics: (Shall we sing)

I'm gonna pretend I know what that is. But it's possible. There're people where I'm from that broadcast people's most embarrassing stuff all the time, it wouldn't surprise me if that's what they find entertaining.

[He peers at Eliot's, eyes narrowed as he forces the letters to focus.] How do you think somebody steals two mountains?

Wouldn't surprise me if there was something like that where everyone's from.

[ She considers Eliot's poster. ]

Steal the deed to them? Is the boring option. Could also murder everyone currently residing on them and take over as the new local gang leader, but from briefly chatting with him he doesn't sound like that type.
hydrokinetics: (Although I never mastered anything)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-01-31 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
That might just be what he wants us to think, too. [The tone's light, though he has a point to make.] Think about the wanted posters from last week. One guy wound up being thrown in the stocks, one of the other guys acted as a Bandit. Maybe we should pay attention to them before Friday.

[personal profile] sidearmofthelaw 2017-01-31 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Sheriff said that didn't have anything to do with the posters. You think he's lying about even that? That could make this game a lot more difficult.
hydrokinetics: (But I do it for the kids)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-02-01 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
What, you don't think he and his employers would appreciate making this harder? It'd probably be more fun for them to watch.
sidearmofthelaw: (13)

[personal profile] sidearmofthelaw 2017-02-02 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Depends on what they have fun with, I guess. If it were me, the rules are important. If you were watching a game of psycho-head volleyball and suddenly someone told them that really the net didn't matter, hitting things under it was just as good as over, wouldn't you be a little annoyed?

[ She shrugs. ]

Unless you weren't expecting a volleyball game in the first place. But if they wanted a confused free-for-all, there are less complicated ways of getting that.
hydrokinetics: (with everything falling down around me)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-02-02 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Because it would make it too easy. [In a weird, scary sense...she makes sense.] If people applied rules however they wanted there wouldn't even be any competition. It'd just be kind of a mess. Nobody would be able to really get ahead.

[Fuck.] I'd rather take a game of volleyball over this if it's all the same to you.

[personal profile] sidearmofthelaw 2017-02-02 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Easier, harder, you can't even really say which it is if you can't count on the goal being right or consistent. Not gonna say the Sheriff's not misleading, and obviously sometimes he won't answer, but I don't think he'd straight-up lie to a direct question.

[ She shrugs. ]

Not really a huge fan of either, myself. I like my conflicts a lot simpler.
hydrokinetics: (Yeah right)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-02-02 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
So you think maybe we're just not asking him the right questions? Because we're still pretty lost.

You're law and order basically, aren't you? [It's the impression he got.] A fan of the straight-forward without wiggle room.

[ Nisha snorts. ]

Never had it put quite that way before, but yeah, you could say that.

And yeah, maybe. I mean, there are definitely rules and roles going on here that not everyone is privy to. ...Like the Bandit thing. He seemed happy enough to explain that once we knew it existed.
hydrokinetics: (your train of thought's been derailed?)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-02-03 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
The rulebook says the stuff about roles but not how many or what kind, and he won't exactly tell us that. The only reason he explained about the bandits is because we found one on accident. I don't know if we can wait to "accidentally" find the rest of these people. Not with the way things are going.
sidearmofthelaw: (05)

[personal profile] sidearmofthelaw 2017-02-03 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
Not sure I'd call it accidental with the way he was flaunting it, but yeah, I get your meaning. If there's something that happens, we gotta make sure to ask if there's some role that would make someone do that. And the rules behind it.

[ She considers. ]

...For instance, Sheriff said Jason was "chosen" to be in the stocks. Could be there's a role who gets to pick someone for it. And that someone happened to take a look at the wanted posters.
hydrokinetics: (There's no reason)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-02-03 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that probably wasn't supposed to happen. [He doesn't believe people should be dying, but at the same time he's pretty annoyed with how things with Higekiri went down. Now with the other bandit wandering free, they don't know who's next.]

See, that's the kind of thinking that makes more sense here. [He glances at the posters then.] Like...a hitman? [Wrong era, but sure.] So if that's true somebody from these posters will probably be in the stocks this week. We still don't know what purpose they serve anyway. The Sheriff moved Jason inside the station Thursday night last week.

Hal was pretty straight-forward last trial when we were asking the right questions. It's when we start hypothesizing that he gets weird.
