WEEK THREE

CURRENT POPULATION: 35 It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings. ... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours! Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss. This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. [She puts the helmet that Milla hands her on carefully, toying with the light to make sure this is one of the ones that works. Satisfied with the results, she follows the others into the mine, careful as she goes in.]

What do you think we'll find?

Y'ALL ARE TOO QUICK FOR ME

[ And boy howdy, is it dark.

There's no lighting coming in from anywhere but the entrance and all that they'll see if that they're in a stone cave. There's some mineral here and there in the walls but otherwise, that's it.

Well, aside from the giant hole in the floor. There is that. It seems to go pretty deep, too. ]

[feminitis]

Maybe-

[Sei is a moron. Case in point: even after she's given a helmet, she doesn't turn her head down to illuminate the ground. She very nearly walks right into the hole, but manages to jerk back at the last second, landing on her butt safely on the ground.]

...Well, I wasn't going to say a giant hole, but that, apparently.

[tightly]

[ With her own helmet snugly fastened on, Chane kneels down beside Sei. One hand is on the girl's shoulder to make sure she's okay, but she isn't looking at her. Rather, Chane is peering down into the hole. Hefting up a small rock close by, she tosses it into the hole, waiting to hear it hit the ground.

... Is there even room to maneuver around the hole? ]

[WELL. . . that's different. Milla stands by to listen for the rock, although she does flip on the light on her helmet and try to shine it into the hole's depths]

[Natalie leans down to peer into the hole, too, letting out a low whistle as she does.]

Yeah, can't say this is the first thing I was expecting to see, either. Weird.

[sheriffexe]

[ There is room to move around the hole, safely at that! Just, you know, be careful. Don't trip.

It's also going to take a while to hit. It's a pretty deep hole after all and when it does, it's a soft hit. It doesn't hit hard ground. ]

[tightly]

[ ... Well, might as well move on. It's not like they can go down there.

Can they?

Chane looks around the group, waiting to see if anyone is going to suggest rappelling down. ]

[feminitis]

[She's a moron, so. She will.]

Did anyone bring a long enough rope for that? If we can lower ourselves down there, maybe we'll find something good...

[may already be lookin for a LARGE AND STURDY ROCK to tie the rope to. scratch that, it isn't "may," she is definitely looking]

I can help anchor whichever one of us decides to go down. It sounds as though there's something there.

[Lowering someone into the mystery hole sounds like a great idea.]

I can check it out, if anyone wants to climb down with me.

[ THERE IS NO ROCK. Haha, suckers. But all they'll get is like... a few hard stones kicking around, but nothing safe enough to anchor.

But hey, they do have pickaxes? ]

[tightly]

[ Chane, who can't exactly yell for help if anything goes wrong, shakes her head and gestures to Milla. It's better if she helps anchor.

Not a clue about the other thing, though. ]

[feminitis]

I'll go with you!

[Sei has wimpy little arms, don't ask her to hold the rope. But she can go with, definitely.]

[picks up on Chane's nod and returns it with one of her own. if two people go down, two will have to stay behind]

Then Chane and I will stay here to hold you both up. We can tie the rope around our waists and brace ourselves against the ground with our axes.

[robitussin]

Sure thing. Sounds good.

[She glances towards Sei.]

You wanna start going down first, or should I?

[feminitis]

I'll go. What kind of man would I be if I let someone get hurt because they went ahead of me?

[She's not actually a man, but whatever. Anyway, she picks up one side of the rope, gets herself secure, and heads to the side of the hole.

She glances over to the person on the other side of her rope.]

Ready when you are!

[Once she gets the go-ahead, she'll lower herself over the side and start rappelling down.]

[ Carefully slipping Sei's rope around her waist, Chane uses the young woman's pickaxe to ground herself as she slowly lowers her down with the other hand. It feels a bit like being tugged in twain, but she shows no signs of it externally. ]

Cool, got it.

[A few moments after Sei starts, Natalie grabs onto her rope and secures it that same way the other girl did, mimicking those movements. She starts following her down. She's never done this before, but she seems to at least not be doing horribly at it, either.]

[digs the sharp points of her axe into the ground so she can support Natalie on her way down. she's pretty strong, so she's got this!!]

[ Alright so, the hats help. It's pretty obvious why the lower and lower they go.

They place is dark. Like, insanely dark only light coming from the hole at the very very top of the mines. As they get lower and lower though, the rock is going to smooth out. It turns from rough and chipped away to, well, stone. Smooth stone that slowly forms one perfect circle at the very bottom of the pit.

And that is what it is -- a pit. As they get closer to the bottom, about eight feet off the ground, a pebble will fall, a breeze will pass, and the rope holding them will snap. It leaves them falling quite quickly to the ground and when they hit, that's when they'll notice how weird it is down here.

As in, the ground. The ground is entirely covered in skeleton bones. It smells awful, dried blood and the like on the ground. Clothes still hanging off the skeletons at that. They were left here to rot, that's obvious enough.

To the side, to make it even better, is a giant pile of weapons. All covered in various amounts of dried blood and the like, it's as if they were all just piled there in a way to get them out of the way. Some of the weapons are fitting of the theme -- pistols, rifles, the like -- but others are stranger. Modern day AK-47s to medieval flails, you can find a bit of everything in there.

Oh, and they can probably make out Ocelot and Undertaker's dead bodies in the mess. ]

[feminitis]

[JESUS CHRIST.

...is what Sei would yell if she knew anything about Christianity, which she doesn't. Instead, Natalie (and Milla and Chane if her voice will carry up that far) will be treated to a litany of generic expletives.

Which only grow louder once she realizes what is in the pit with them.]

What the hell-

[She makes a valiant effort at avoiding the skeletons, but... Nope. No avoiding them. And what the hell, those bodies look familiar...]

What...

[She stares, but then she spots the pile of weaponry, and, well.

...She's gonna loot it.]

[thatsthespirit]

[oh my god?? as though the sudden slackness of the rope isn't foreboding enough (especially when the lack of weight sends her stumbling forward, where she almost trips over her pickaxe) Sei's waterfall of expletives just makes it worse]

-- are you all right down there?! What did you find?!

[she yells as loudly as she can as she catches her balance and rushes to the edge of the hole, peering down]

[robitussin]

[She gives a little shriek of surprise when the rope snaps and she lands on the floor, but it cuts off as soon as she sees what she's landed on. She stands up immediately, trying to find somewhere to stand that isn't on top of any bones... And that's when she sees the bodies. Her scream of surprise this time is louder, and she has to stop herself from gagging at the smell.]

Fuck, fuck, fuck, oh my god. Oh, that's so gross, that's...

[She's about to answer Milla's question, but she sees Sei heading quickly towards the weaponry and focuses her attention that way for a minute. Her voice is shrill as she calls out.]

Hey, be careful, don't just run off to grab stuff!

[tightly]

[ Chane flinches visibly when the commotion breaks out. There's less weight on the other end of the rope, which allows her to let up from the pickaxe and peer over the edge of the hole. Her helmet light cuts through the darkness, giving her a better view of...

... of --

Concerned, she looks over at Milla. ]
