[ WEEK THREE ]

WEEK THREE

CURRENT POPULATION: 35

It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.

... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!

Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss.

This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to [plurk.com profile] robowest.

hydrokinetics: (When you hear a song from that big lady)

[A shake of his head.] I'm not risking Mrs. O'Leary touching it. [He runs a hand over his face and desperately wishes that they'd grabbed Annabeth instead. She's much smarter at this stuff than he is.] What if we activated it and then took it out to the farm? That's like an hour away, we can hide it somewhere really good on the homestead in one of the trees or something.

[This is getting nowhere, isn't it?]

Let's think about this for a second. You guys remember what showed up on the Sheriff's porch last week?
cherrypuncher: (we're finding every day)

There are tons of animals out there, though, and lots of people go to the farm anyway... If we close it, I can put it in my room under my bed. We don't have any animals, and I trust Milla.

[She frowns, though, at Percy's question.]

That's where Xion and Shinnosuke-kun found the camera, isn't it? I'm sure this got put here for a reason, since bear traps don't just appear out of nowhere, but there's no good reason at all it could be used for.

Damian's has a kitty so I couldn't take it anyway.

[ look at this point papika will believe anything. ]

Maybe he's going to make a bear attack us next? [ she turns her attention back to the trap. ] It doesn't seem as useful as the camera.
hydrokinetics: (There's no reason)

[A wince. All right, all right.]

I'm only sending it with you if we close it. [That said:] The only thing I can think of is the Sheriff set it out to see if we'd use it to stop this week's bandits...if there are any this week. The camera showed Higekiri and Manfred and we know what happened to them. What if this is supposed to be a test of some kind?

[Like. What if they're supposed to leave it alone? They really should have grabbed a better adult.]
cherrypuncher: (patiently 'cause these days they)

[Yuna spends a moment looking at the bear trap, then shakes her head.]

I think using it like that is a bad idea. There are too many of us for there to be any way to be sure it would catch a bandit, even if there are any, no matter where we put it.

...And it's too cruel. Someone being hurt so badly... [She shakes her head, looking serious as she continues.] Besides, if it does catch someone, and something...happens... [death. death happens] ...the person who set it might be in trouble. If it's a test, this is my answer. I think we should close it, and I'll keep it so there's no chance of an accident happening, or anyone using it for anything bad.

I think the town is too big anyway for that to work. Like, um... wouldn't it only be useful if you were already suspicious of someone and decide to trap them? Because otherwise there are too many places you could hide it.

[ it'll kind of be like setting up a land mine and just hoping that your target would mosey on over it?? ]

But Yuna's right. It's way too mean! I think everyone likes having their feet.

I never said it was a good idea, but I also don't trust the Sheriff's ideas in the first place. [Given the conversation he had with the guy about the camera...]

Let's close it. I'm going to go grab one of the shovels or a stick or something. You two stay here. [He's still #paranoid about this, but...fine. He'll take the time to turn and walk toward the graveyard where he knows shovels are...before turning and heading to the tailor. Percy where are you going...]
cherrypuncher: (too late to keep the world from dying)

[personal profile] cherrypuncher 2017-02-02 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Okay!

[And Yuna will diligently stand guard by the bear trap with Papika. The tailor's not where shovels are but she's pretty sure Percy knows what he's doing so she isn't going to ask questions??]

[ she watches percy run off and stays quiet for a moment before turning to look at yuna. ]

Maybe he wants to stick a cowboy boot in it instead?

[ ?????? ]
hydrokinetics: (If I fall forward)

[personal profile] hydrokinetics 2017-02-02 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Actually, yeah. That's exactly what he's doing. He will in fact be coming back with a pair of cowboy boots, hefting them in his hand as he returns to eye the bear trap again.]

The problem with using a shovel is that it might break and cause even more damage. With a boot, the teeth should have something to grip on and we should be able to move it.

[And also he doesn't trust it, so he's standing a little away from it.] Plus we don't have to be right next to it to trigger it. It'll give us an idea of how sensitive the spring is, too.
