The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:
One of your own is gone.
And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.
Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for the mod replies. Anything to discover or not to will be indicated during the course of the thread.
After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. If there are any questions, please shoot a message either to this journal or at robowest.
[It was a bad idea. It was bad, the whole thing was bad, and sure, they had agreed to it but that doesn't mean he wasn't nervous as hell the entire night. He didn't sleep at all, wide awake and restless and honestly a little scared…
...so when the doors open he's off like a shot, booking it for the Sheriff's station and the stocks with Mrs. O'Leary at his heels for once. He's immediately scanning the stocks for Annabeth or any sign of disturbance. Anyone who thought he'd go anywhere else sure would be wrong as much as he would also like to look at the hole, there are Priorities]
[ Xion, whenever she appears on the scene, seems both out of it and kind of mad, for some reason. So hey, let's go hobble into the general store to check things out! ]
[ In a perfect world where I wasn't busy last week, Hannibal probably came to check the stocks first then as well, since it's the logical first place to check in the morning. Anyone that was left overnight might not be in the best of shape, though as he approaches and sees both Percy and the state of the stocks themselves, his expression falls to concern. ]
Percy?
[ He's announcing himself lightly, since, uh. That doesn't seem ominous at all. Nope. ]
I'm fine! [ She's pretty huffy. Anyway, she's going to start looking around, limping and leaning heavily on her walking stick as she goes. She's not very fast, but she is thorough. Anything interesting in here? ]
[Innnnternal shrieking is a go. He's not turning to face Hannibal just yet but he seems to be a little frozen? Someone please help this poor kid? Eventually though he turns his head.]
She's gone. [Yes thank you, Percy.] Dr. Lecter, I don't--I told her I didn't want to leave! [He's approaching the stocks to see how bad the burns on the stocks are and also for any signs of...well, anything. Mrs. O'Leary whines and moves to sniff around and even as his hands are running over the stocks he keeps talking.] Last week, last week the Sheriff moved Jason into the Station with Yuna and Milla because he said that they would have seen too much and he couldn't do that and now she's not here, but they weren't burned last week and where would he have taken her this time?
[Inside the station might be good, but he's also checking the ground around the stocks for anything. A match, anything.]
Well, first things first, it's going to be hard to come close to the hole because of the amount of chemicals in the air.
Anyone who gets closer than about, say, three feet or so of the hole are going to feel their skin burning from the air around it. Not too bad to hurt but enough to feel pretty uncomfortable. You might not want to breathe it in.
