The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:
One of your own is gone.
And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.
Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for the mod replies. Anything to discover or not to will be indicated during the course of the thread.
After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. If there are any questions, please shoot a message either to this journal or at robowest.
Well, first things first, it's going to be hard to come close to the hole because of the amount of chemicals in the air.
Anyone who gets closer than about, say, three feet or so of the hole are going to feel their skin burning from the air around it. Not too bad to hurt but enough to feel pretty uncomfortable. You might not want to breathe it in.
He's immediately pulling his shirt to cover his nose and mouth. Not much to be done about his eyes, at this time, but he follows Rin, saying:]
Keep your noses and mouths covered, and don't breathe. [Don't give orders to people older than you???] It smells like someone dumped a truckload of ammonia here, holy fuck.
[Being an idiot, though, he's going to hold his breath and also try to get a closer look anyway. Is there anything else immediately apparent, or...?]
[Likewise, he's immediately covering his nose and mouth, thankful that he's wearing thick sleeves. He'll be trailing behind Jason and Rin, ready to act if need be (but otherwise, he's leaving you two to be sacrificial lambs if anything happens, sorry).]
Because when y'all look closer in the hole, there seems to be a kind of soup in there. It's a pinkish-white mostly, a mixture of chemicals and as they peer closer --
Well, that's definitely a few skeleton bones bobbing up and down in there. Some even still have flesh attached to them.
Haha, see, I told y'all I'd give you corpse soup this post. ]
But yeah, when he smelled chemicals, he had a feeling this was going to be the case, damn it. Eyes narrowing for a moment, he takes a moment to compose himself, before:]
... Well, that's one way to deal with a corpse. Can anyone tell who that... well, used to be?
Taking a step back for a second because???? Holy shit. Holy fuck. Nope. Nope. But then he steadies himself, taking another step forward.]
We'd need something to dip our hands in the chemicals without, you know, ending up just like them. [Swallowing down some puke. Bleh.] Ugh.
[Does he... dare bend over to see if there anything recognizable left on the still fleshy bits?? Or maybe if he can guess the approximate height and age from what's left of the skeleton? Anything at all without taking the body out, really.
With how much there's left, we might as well get a fishing rod. That, or a really big net.
[Okay. Well. That's a thing, then. He stands up, still looking a little sick.]
Can't tell shit from the bones, but saw a couple of hairs in the... mix. [Ew.] Blonde, blue and gray. Unless we have someone with three different colors in their hair, there might be more than one body in there.
Shinnosuke has the posters mostly memorized, at least, and so he begins reciting, in part for himself and in part for the others:]
... Riku, Ao, and Tiara have blue hair. Ash, Ms. Amari, Mr. Ocelot, Mr. von Karma, and Mr. Undertaker have grey. As for blonde... that'd be, Milla, Annabeth, Higekiri, Diego, Russell, and Lissa.
We'd still be dragging some of the chemicals with the bodies, but... Still a better idea than playing Go Fish. That, or we scoop them out with a shovel.
[And for rule of funny, can we pretend the fourth skull just bobbed up to the surface like a murder apple??? Or not. Either way, Jason is taking another look and. Just. Cringing.]
... Aw, fuck. Make it four bodies— there's another skull in there. Two smaller than the others. Could be from kids? Or women. I don't know. [STOP BABBLING.] How about we stop standing around and get them out already?
Too bad none of us care. [HE HATES NUI??? Rest in pieces, Nui. Jason sure won't mourn you.
But in less petty news, he takes a step back.]
Let's try the bags, first. See if the chemical mix burns through them, and if so, we move to the shovels. Either way, we need to get them out to take a closer look.
[SO... TO FETCH BOTH OF THOSE THEY GO. While the rest of the town is on fire, ig.]
corpse tree

Not unless we can get them out of there.

This is a bad idea, but in the meantime...]

[He's joking, but wow, this sure is something, even if he's not quite feeling the nausea and so remains by the corpse soup.
You do as you do, Jason.]

There are some hairs though. Blonde, blue, and grey hairs float in the mix, not yet dissolved yet.
But otherwise, yeah. Not so distinguishable. ]

We could attach a bag to a broom, if we don't want to play Go Fish.

I have something we can put the remains in until it's time to tell the others.

Should I ask about your hobbies?
[That's to Rin—he's feeling enough like himself to be a bit of a little shit now.]
... With any luck, those were just the bodies of those who were already dead. [...] Though somebody had to have been killed last night.
[A LOT OF SOMEBODIES APPARENTLY.]
