It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest.
[ In the graveyard on Thursday, things look a little unsettled.
Both Nisha Kadam and Tarvek Sturmvoraus's graves look recently dug up and then filled back in. The problem with that though is Tarvek's grave looks as if it was unsettled again where a hole rests in the center.
Kind of like... someone may have dug out of it! Haha, but that's crazy, right? ]
[So. This is apparently the week of teenagers doing stupid bullshit, isn't it? It's getting late but that doesn't stop them from approaching the graveyard and grabbing some shovels. Jason had mentioned a theory of his and it would have been stupid of them to really ignore the idea, given everything that's happened this week.
Percy himself isn't afraid. There's nothing left to be afraid of, is there? The worst to come has already happened and all he has left are risks and ideas. And it's with this in mind that he approaches with Annabeth's dagger still attached to his hip, shovel in hand as he stares...well, first at Tarvek's grave and he raises an eyebrow.]
I know we came here for another reason, but do you think we should actually...like...take care of that first? [A vague hand gestures to the grave.]
[This is, indeed, the week of teenagers doing dumb bullshit. Jason himself seems to be going for gold, considering the fact that he's ready to disturb some graves only days after opening up the Bank/Post Office. He still tries to open his mouth when Percy asks him about Tarvek's grave, but... Yeah. No.
He shakes his head instead, gesturing towards the grave and then towards the shovel in Percy's hand, making an upwards motion. Dig it up, he means to say. But no handy dandy rulebook here, sorry. If Percy doesn't get it then, Jason will poke at the hole with the tip of his own shovel, squinting into it to see if the coffin at the bottom can be seen from here. Probably not? But he gives Percy another look.
They can add another task to their itinerary, right?]
[Natalie, at least, realizes this is a horrible decision that will most likely not end well. That's why she's here, actually - once she heard about their plan, there was no way she was letting either of them head there alone. For obvious reasons, she doesn't have a shovel with her, but she does have the pistol that was given to her when she arrived in town.
Her mouth pulls into a frown as she notices the way the grave is disrupted, taking a step closer to it with a small sigh. That can't be good, whatever it signifies, and Tarvek has been on her mind all week after her own trip to the mines.]
[At least someone has a brain among them. Percy seems to get what Jason's implying and he nods. If Jason's theory is right, well, they're pretty fucked! Like super fucked! Isn't that great?
No. No it isn't. So he takes a breath and turns, driving his shovel down into the dirt to start unearthing Tarvek's grave.]
When have I never been careful? [It's a joke, but his tone's a touch too serious. This is a little scary, given what he recalls of Tarvek's fate.] Let's say we find a coffin. What're we supposed to do with it, open it and see if Tarvek's still in it? [He knows Jason can't exactly answer, but it's more of an idle thought as he digs.]
[Whole Ass has been saved by the fact that Shitty Teen #3 can't actually join in on all this sarcasm, but it doesn't mean he can't roll his eyes at the two of them. And while he also can't answer Percy's question, he can still hum in affirmation. That's a yes, dude. He's cracked open one of these things before, and he doesn't mind wrecking another shovel to do it again.
Well... Assuming they'll find a coffin in here at all. Maybe the ground is about to cave under their feet, earning them a one way ticket to the tunnels below the town.
Too bad(?) he can't say that, so he focuses on helping Percy dig instead. Will they hit anything on their way down?]
We absolutely should not open the coffin if there's one still in there.
[She gives Percy a Look as she says this, but as both boys start to dig, she takes a step closed to peer into the grave. Once they've removed enough of the dirt that she realizes it's not complete any longer, she breathes in sharply but quietly. There's a deep frown on her face as she looks down.]
Kinda looks like the hard part was already done for us. [He shares a glance with the two of them, not at all at ease by what the hell they've just discovered. His shovel removes some extra dirt, pausing at the lid of this not-in-tact coffin.]
Okay. Okay, the last time a grave was opened it was just a skeleton, right? ["Just."] Just be ready for whatever we find, all right? Jason, on my count we'll use the shovels to lift off the lid okay? One, two...[And he's already starting to pry at said-coffin. Look it's already open apparently so why the hell not. He just hopes for the best.]
[Assuming............ there is a lid to pry off, yeah, he shares that glance with Percy. Obviously he's going to help him pop that shit open as soon as possible, no question about it. If they're lucky, they won't end up with another broken shovel in their hands.
Or, maybe they will end up with something else entirely. Either way, here's to hoping there's a goddamn skeleton in there. It's sad but it's true that would be the most comforting result.
[She lets out a low groan of displeasure once they open the coffin and see that it's empty, making a face to match. That cannot possibly imply anything positive at all, and she takes a step away from the grave.]
So. Do we want to start taking bets on where it went, exactly?
[A h. He should move away from the empty grave, too, but no. He's just staring down into it.]
Depends. Do we want to entertain the idea that it's up and walking around on its own, or do we think somebody just moved it? Maybe the Sheriff, you know how he takes care of the bodies. [Ugh.] ...check out Nisha's grave, too. Do we want to bet the same thing happened, or is Tarvek a special case?
[Do they want to dig hers up, too? He'll let Jason decide by giving him a look and glancing in the direction of Nisha's grave again.]
[Oh. Well. That sure is a thing. With all the general creepiness surrounding skeletons in this town, Jason pales considerably while looking down at Tarvek's now empty coffin. He's not (yet) the expert here, but... does the coffin look like someone or something clawed it's way out of there? God, he feels sick.
After staring down at Tarvek's grave for far too long, he looks at Nisha's. It's been disturbed, obviously. No hole on it like Tarvek, however, which may or may not be a good sign. If someone didn't crawl out, they must have... Well. Nodding at both Percy and Natalie, he makes his way over to Nisha's grave in order to start digging.
Time to find out if the skeleton uprising is upon them.]
...great. Awesome. So whatever or whoever was in Tarvek's coffin broke out and is probably doing a great impression of Frankenstein's monster and Nisha's coffin's in tact. But somebody definitely dug it up so...do we want to just be sure she's actually in there?
[Please let him go back to Tartarus, at least that made some sense.]
He's going to have to teach Percy sign language at some point because communicating like this sucks, but he nods before gesturing at the still intact coffin. Slowly, he mouths the word Replaced, eyebrows furrowed as if to imply it's a question. Please be smart enough to know how to read simple words off someone's lips, Percy Jackson. Jason can only play charades so many times before he wants to lay down on the train tracks.
Either way, he's moving to pry the coffin open. They might as well make sure Nisha mk. II is still in there, right?]
First of all, she's fully dressed, no doubt about that. Hat and everything. But she's also kind of... torn... right down the middle. Her chest cavity that is, it's spread wide open and all of her organs are missing.
The only thing inside her is coal. Coal and rocks fill up every nook and cranny and if that's not enough, she's pinned down to the coffin via a pickaxe. It sinks right through everything, her back, and right into the coffin itself.
[Nope. Nope!! She's moving very quickly away from that sight. As she takes a step or two back, her hand is pressed to her mouth as she fights back the feeling of bile rising in her throat.
Muffled and horrified:]
Holy shit. Uh, should we... I don't know what we should do. Holy shit.
[His reaction is very similar, a gag tearing out of his throat before turning his head. Granted, he finds himself looking at the coffin again in absolute horror, eyes wide and expression frozen.]
I don't know. Is there anything we can or should do? What...you think one of us did this or something else? [A hand drags down his face, muffling an echoing "holy shit" behind his palm.] We should at least tell everyone else? Maybe? [What the fuck???]
He shares a look of absolute horror with both of them, swallowing down the nausea that usually accompanies each and every body discovery. He nods for a lack of anything to say because, yes? The Sheriff wouldn't have done this, he thinks. It had to be one of them. Perhaps a role, or... hm.
He's going to get super judged for this, but he picks up a piece of coal after pulling down the sleeve of his shirt. He points at the piece in his hand, the pickaxe, and then at Nisha, holding up one finger once he's done. Then, he points at the coal again, the pickaxe — and holds up two fingers.
Nisha's one of two coal miners, isn't she? He seems to be trying to ask if they think the second one killed her and shoved her down here.]
[Jesus. She tries not to look at the corpse again, but she can't really help it when Jason reaches in and grabs the coal. Luckily, it's easy enough for her to figure out what he's trying to get across, and she furrows her eyebrows.]
I'm not sure. The Sheriff said there was one more person he needed her to take care of, right? That's why he stopped the execution. Maybe that person got the better of her.
[It's a good thing he's getting better at charades and also he's pretty glad he doesn't have to yell at Jason for reaching into the coffin. Please don't do that??? But his expression twists to match Natalie's, if only because what she's saying makes some sense.]
If there's one thing I've learned since we got here it's that it's never the obvious thing. So. I think Natalie's got a point. If that's true then where's that person? Hiding somewhere right under our noses?
[There's a harsh breath through his nose.] Diego's...something. I told you I didn't trust him a long time ago, and this really isn't helping. I'd say "we should go look for him" but I think we've had enough injuries for the week and it's getting close to curfew anyway.
[But he's not moving. He's letting Jason do his bat-kid thing and examine Nisha's corpse again knowing that he's listening.] Maybe the ground swallowed him up, too. Let's...pretend that what you're saying is how this worked out. If whoever Nisha was supposed to kill was Diego, and Diego somehow bested her, maybe the town didn't like that and swallowed him like it swallowed Tarvek? But we don't know where Tarvek's body is either which is really creepy.
Unless the ground swallowed Diego and spit out Tarvek. I'd say that's crazy but. [The ground shouldn't be swallowing people at all. Plus Natalie managed to get out, too.]
???
