It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

[Once he's moved off the topic of, well, insanity, she does seem to calm down slightly. She breathes in and out, shrugging a bit.]
...Don't know if I'd call it bouncing back. [She admits after a few long moments of silence.] But it's not like I had much of a choice.
[When she finally woke up last week after finding her way back from the tunnels, it was just in time to hear the list of the deceased on Friday. Percy and Xion needed her, even if it feels like part of her still hasn't come back from the mines.]

[ His attitude about death is kind of an occupational hazard. ]
An old friend once told me that "to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure". I guess I've hung onto that.

[A sigh, in and out.]

[If there's a sliver of concern in her voice, he's probably imagining it. Yeah, definitely. She runs her hand through her hair.]
You could make it, you know. You seem smart enough.

[ But he'd cheated death more than his fair share of times. Would his number be soon? ]
So could you, by the way. You made it out of that labyrinth alive.

[But the tone of her voice and accompanying shrug probably shows how likely she thinks that is.]
Most of it was just walking. Not very hard to walk.

Pretty hard to walk when what's around you is trying to mess with your head.

[Or have a nervous breakdown. You know, either/or.]
no subject
[ Yeah, either/or. ]

No. Not me. I'm not - I'm fine.
[It looks like he hit one of her buttons. Oops. She realizes as soon as she gives that defense that it's probably not what he meant, though.]
...Sorry.

He's quiet for a few moments, thoughtful, before he goes on: ]
Most people also wouldn't be able to bounce back from losing a limb like you have.
[ Or maybe "bounce back" isn't the right phrase. It's more like forging ahead when you should stop because if you stop -
He gets that, too. ]

[ This is important for him to point out. ]

[A soft sigh.]
I get what you're trying to do, but I'm fine. Seriously.
