[ WEEK FOUR ]

WEEK FOUR

CURRENT POPULATION: 28

It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.

... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!

After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to [plurk.com profile] robowest.

Everything is pain

Unfortunately my interest in music doesn't extend to playing any instruments. I like to listen to it. And...sing along, I suppose. I know someone back home who plays the piano, though. One of my team.

[Not that Envy had been given to playing it often, but sometimes he would. She'd never bothered to learn. She almost regrets it, now. It would be something to do. And music is a catharsis.]

I intend to. I do like to eat good food. I've always found it something pleasurable.

[Even when she didn't need to eat, she had. There was something pleasing about an artistic plate, complex flavors...]

sobs....

Ha, right, guess that's not something everyone picks up. Singing still counts. I might, uh... know how to sing a little myself. [A little, he says, when a whole job depended on his singing skills.] Know how to play guitar too.

Haven't seen one of those around, though.

[So he can't exactly play that, welp.]

Good, means I haven't been doing this for no reason. Hope I meet your standards.

Oh really? I wonder if we know any of the same songs...

[Unlikely, but one never knew. Sometimes book titles are familiar to her, why not music as well? And she is trying to do things that are enjoyable. She's been told repeatedly that she ought to. Even Eliot had echoed the sentiment. What else is there to do?]

[In the meantime, she'll help herself to Eliot's food.]

Oh, I have little doubt of that. They say that the most passionate make the greatest creators - artists, inventors, chefs...

Ha, well... Maybe, maybe not. Would have to know what you're familiar with. Only ever really played country, though.

[Which is different from knowing songs, hence why he's specifying.]

You don't say, huh? Well. I do like to put the same amount of effort into everything I do, so. Maybe that's related to it.

Is that...folk music? I'm partial to jazz. Though I suppose everyone is, it's quite the grand new trend where I'm from. And I did make an attempt to study the operatic style, but I never had much time to devote to it.

[Lust isn't familiar with music trends post-1920 something. But she's realizing that she's always had quite an interest in it.]

The eponymous 'they' do, at any rate. I don't know how much stock I put in what 'they' say. It's mostly just rhetorical drivel and pretty sounding quotes, but now and then... Either way. You're a passionate man who's a talented chef.

[And god knew what other talents he had hidden beneath that body guardish exterior.]

Huh, well... Close enough, I guess. [So she's leaning towards stuff a little older. Alright.] Jazz... Yeah, I can get behind some of that.

Can't... really say I know much about opera-- Well... not nothing. Dated an opera singer once. But I never got too into that.

[Just... You know. Into her.]

Ha, well. 'ppreciate the compliment, at any rate.

Owe most of my cooking skills to good teachers, honestly. Wasn't really a passion of mine for a long time.

Opera isn't for everyone. To be quite honest, I find actual operas tedious. One of the men I was mistress to, he loved the things. I had to sit through a few of them...I could never follow the plots and half the cast was always dead by the intermission. But the style of them, that manner of singing... I don't know, something about the focus and control required for it appeals to me.

[Maybe that was all it was, the control. It was some small way to have some control and power over her own body.]

Really? You must have had some exceptional teachers. What was your first passion?
