In the morning, the town comes back to life. Birds crow overhead, a snake nearby hisses, a lingering coyote dips behind a shop before disappearing into the wild. It's a frightening contrast to the stillness of yesterday but it doesn't mean it's over yet. After all, today is the trial.
The Sheriff stands on the porch of the Town Hall and brings his hand up to his mouth to let out a whistle. He'll thumb back to the Hall behind him and very clearly state --
"Trial time, folks. Get in here and figure out who did it."
And then he'll turn to leave before pausing and adding on,
"Bring a snack or somethin' too.
The Town Hall is set up more like a court house, a Judge's bench at the front but instead of at center, it's off to the side as if more for observation than participation. There's a table at the front of the room already holding a small box and a pad of papers and pen, for voting apparently. A side room containing only a metal gurney is next and today it's obvious why there's a gurney there at all with the corpse, resting right on top of it. Aside from that, there are rows for everyone to take a seat and it's only after everyone is inside and settled, that the doors close and the Sheriff speaks.
"Well, have at it. You've got till nine."
And then, he points to a clock on the wall that reads 12:00. Good luck.
Welcome to the trial post! Characters are free to discuss everything related to the trial here. They won't be let out of the room until 9PM when voting ends. Every character must vote and the voting post can be found here.

Um. Sorry, what do you mean you gave him to the killers? You assigned the Bandits to kill him, you mean? Or our independent party wanted to kill and you suggested Simon?

Surprised that doesn't go against the whole point of having to do murders ourselves, but if you're capable of providing weapons I guess this counts, too? [What the fuck.] By that logic then that means he was killed by our independent party, right? Outside of whatever this week's Bandits planned with Lust and the Bandits and the individual party didn't cross paths. [Right?]

Bandits worked out a plan with a solid amount of teamwork and effort. Only snag was access to their victim. So, gave 'em their victim because the Bandits have already contributed a lot in their time here and weren't annoying catkilling shits like Ash. I'll provide weapons to anyone, victim if they've earned it.
Independent party killed Lust.

Is this independent party the same party that killed Riku last week?

All right. Thank you.

I see. The Bandits working out a plan has to mean that they already knew they would be working together this week then, probably really early in the week. But I don't really understand because the plan's pretty straight-forward. Simon was shot in the head, tied to a rock, thrown in the water. Getting access to him was made easier because they earned it from you. So there's something much bigger we're missing, huh?
[...hold on.] Shinnosuke was in the stocks this week. And Shinnosuke and Simon lived together. Was that all part of their plan, too? With Shinnosuke preoccupied it would have been easier to get Simon out without anybody knowing.
[He frowns though.] You said that more merit was earned for how Lust died. Do they earn merit anyway just by independently killing her, too? [i.e. how crazy is crazy in this case, why would you need to brutalize somebody for more points, ahhhh.]

And not that I know of. Reasoning was no one would miss 'em, if I recall.
[ Wow, how callous!! ]
They earn for the attempt and a bigger reward the more elaborate the crime scene. This is kind of day one stuff, Percy.

But that's good to know that we also have Bandits that calculated that pretty easily. I'm mostly trying to figure out what counts as earning a body from you and what doesn't, but maybe it doesn't matter if we have all of those pieces.
One more thing though. What about the monkey? You told Jason he was a passerby, but his body was found really far away from the crime scene. Can we get a confirmation that the monkey and Simon were together at the time of Simon's kill?

[ Whoops!! ]
No, they weren't. Monkey's death ain't involved in this though.

...yeah, it does. Thanks, Hal. [SORRY? Gods.] That's still good to know though even if the monkey's death isn't involved. Thanks again for your help. [BYE, HE'S LEAVING, he is learning when he's pushed his limits.]
