[ Sometime during the evening, there is a low rumbling from behind the train. Lots of constant movement that sounds sort of like --
... Hooves?
There is the sound of an animal squeal, more likely one of the coyotes roaming around being caught off guard before the pounding gets louder and louder and around the train comes... well, deer.
An excess of deer. A stampede of deer.
It's a mixture of them -- from quiet fawn to large bucks -- and they all seem fairly panicked as they run through the town, trampling anything in their path. The horde seems to be running in the direction of the homestead, passing through the town first as they go. Anything in their path might want to move out of it and if they can't --
Well. There is a loud whine and Diamond Dog seems to have been caught in the stampede and anyone looking too closely will see the poor thing trampled before he can run away. He puts up a good fight but well, it's a few hundred deer versus a dog.
Which also means people might want to get out of the way before they too suffer DD (and a few coyotes, birds, rabbits, etc)'s fate. ]
