It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest.
On the pinboard in the railroad station, three posters have been chosen at random to list under the "Most Wanted" sign. Any character that passes the board by today can spot them, faces posted for all to see. This week's Most Wanted are:
[ So, nothing's really going on with the town this week which means -- in general sheriffing manners, the Sheriff can be found all over town throughout the week. Sometimes bringing in supplies to the shops and restocking the inventory. At other times, sweeping the floor over at the homestead and taking stock of the animals.
But mostly, sitting in his rocking chair and carving pieces of wood while chewing tobacco. ]
[ in the morning, if you're inside the hotel near the entrance, you'll see a new addition to it! specifically, a painting of a familiar face. it's ezio's painting that he made of tiara after he executed her a few weeks back. papika can be seen staring at it intently, before reaching over to straighten it out more. ]
I think that looks okay...?
[ later on during the day, you will also see that papika has gone back to just sitting on the roof of the general store again. she seems to like this spot. ]
wildcard
[ feel free to bump into her anywhere else! on monday. ]
[it's a good painting. he's at least glad that tiara won't be forgotten... even if there's really nothing comparable for the rest of the people who've fallen victim to this game.]
Yeah... It looks pretty good. [he doesn't think it's crooked, at least. not upon first glance.]
[ She's tilting her head, a hand on her waist as she stops to look at the painting. ]
He and I talked about hanging it somewhere like this. It looks... [ hold on, she's pulling a piece of paper out of her pocket and aligning it just a little... ] Perfectly straight!
( monday ) [So Eliot found something interesting at the General Store today. He hasn't really gotten much from there other than food, but for once something catches his eye. What's that, you may ask? Why, it's a guitar. If you happen to be there, you might see him pick it up and take it with him. Stop him and ask him about it if you like.
Later that day he'll be a little ways away from town. Around the Homestead, in a quiet area where he's not quite in plain sight. Not that sight matters in this case, because you can probably hear him. Who would've thought that Eliot knows how to play the guitar? More than that...
[before high noon rolls around, noctis will be in the graveyard. what's he doing? getting down and dirty. he really couldn't bear to come back earlier, but seeing tarvek and nisha's graves dug up and just left that way really bothered him.
the least they can do is let these people rest in peace. or. at least let nisha's corpse do that, since who the fuck knows what happened to whatever was in tarvek's? he's not questioning right now.
icky as it is, he still wants to do this, because it's only right.
he definitely won't mind if anyone asks what he's up to with a shovel, or if they see him out doing this in broad daylight.]
b. monday, afternoon;
[there are two facts.
the first is that noct is a disgusting mess after that. dirt and sweat, among other things, and he really just wants to bathe.
the second is that boy, is he pale! because unsurprisingly, being around a rotting corpse and trying to bury is it not exactly in an urban prince's normal skillset.
he kind of wants to puke. he... probably won't though? but needless to say, he definitely looks some mix of "satisfied at his work" and "i might puke and/or pass out on your shoes, let me rest please" as he makes his way back towards the hotel.]
c. wildcard!
[since we have no idea what the hell will happen this week, until we have a more solid beat on it, you can assume noct's around in the usual haunts—the hotel lounge, the general store...
even out near flowers on the homestead, if anyone is curious why he's doing that. he seems to be avoiding his favorite place though, the watering hole. funny how that works.
so just make a scenario or poke me at ailerons if you want something else!]
[ Some guy is walking around in his underwear tonight.
No, really.
Anyone who is up late enough will see a barefoot, booty shorted sight as Will Graham finds himself sleepwalking through the middle of town. He also seems pretty dirty, like he's already been to the Homestead (which you can find him there) but might be making his way back to town (please don't let him fall in a hole). It'd be hilarious, if it wasn't so sad.
At least Winston is following him the whole time. What a good boy. ]
tuesday, saloon.
[ In an increasing rise of Will Graham being half dead, he continues being half dead at the Saloon. He keeps running out of whiskey, which he's not sure if it's because of Hannibal throwing it out or that he's drinking it all. So, today, he's just drinking it all here.
Like, way too much.
Like, enough that after a while his head just sort of drops to the table and it's unclear if he's sleeping or just sort of stewing in his own misery.
God, someone help Will Graham. ]
wildcard.
[ WILL SUCKS BUT HE'S TRYING (no he's not). If you want a Will and neither works, just let me know and we'll figure something out. Somehow. ]
[ Passing him on her way back to the hotel after a walk, well - she had given him a quick nod but hadn't really intended to prolong an encounter, a bit worn out. When he fails to acknowledge her at all, she slows up, although it's concern and not indignation that fuels her.
What do you even do with a sleepwalker?
Yeah, he's going to have two followers now. (Hey, Winston. Are we friends yet?) As soon as she determines where he's heading, she'll figure out what to do next. ]
(a) - RAILROAD STATION (Monday) [ i'm sorry in advance-- ]
Ah... as of right now, we've been in this place for about a month. It seems like years ago when we stepped off that train and were greeted by the Sheriff. There were a lot more people, too, and while I didn't get to meet all of them, I remember every single person's face. It's something I've gotten used to, y'know? Back when I was a conductor, I mean. I'd remember each passenger's face as I checked for tickets, it's how I used to be able to pick out the stowaways. Every time I'd see a new face on the train, my first thought would be, "I haven't seen this fella at the station, so they must be a freeloader", and I was right every time! I don't like those disrespectful types. Why should you ride for free while everyone else does the right thing? As a conductor, I wanted to toss them off the train! This one particular woman, I wanted to hang a card around her neck that says "I steal rides" while I put her on display for the entire station. But I didn't... I didn't need to anyway. She ended up paying for her ride after she got off the train, so sometimes it's just best to scare someone straight into doing the right thing. She even offered me some love advice, so I'm grateful that we met! That's what I used to love about my job, just greeting everyone, exchanging stories and passing good impressions on each other. It was brief, that's another thing that's different. Here, in Whole Ass, I've known my fellow passengers for a whole month now, it's the longest I've ever been around a group of strangers without taking off to the next place. Can you believe it? Every day I feel like my family is expanding little by little, but the opposite is also true. What am I gonna do if the population keeps shrinking like this? To be honest, I don't think I'm ever gonna die. I can't imagine it. I'm probably gonna walk this earth until the end of time, so a place like this never worried me. But now? With Chane and the others, it's like my heart is beating outside of my impenetrable armor. It's out there now, exposed to the elements, and I'm just supposed to be okay with that? To know that you could feel pain at any moment, it's a strange feeling, isn't it? Heh. You must know what I'm talking about. What should I do? ...What would you do? A game like this can't go on forever, so should we just wait it out a while longer or do we start rebelling? No, you're right, I don't want anyone else to lose their limbs. Should I rise up alone then? What if I challenge Hal to a good old-fashioned duel at high noon? I've never gone up against a robot before, it could be interesting. Agh, I just don't know! -- No, you're right. We would still be stranded here if anything were to happen to the big boss. Even I don't wanna live in starvation. It's just weird, being in one place for so long, y'know? -- Yeah, you got a point, nothing has been easy here since day one. I just have to believe in the things that I already do even harder. What do you think?
[ He's talking to Pluto. ]
(b) CHURCH (Mon-??? who knows) [ After having tried gravekeeping, bartending and shopkeeping, this week Claire is trialing a career as a pastor. You can find him anywhere near the church. ]
Good afternoon. Would you like some advice on anything? Get married? Perhaps confess? No, I suppose that would be too easy.
Actually, I have a confession myself: I don't worship this religion's god at all.
[ Well, that was a waste of time. ]
(c) WILDCARD [ Accost this lunatic with anything you'd like! ]
[ Because it seems like even though how bad and/or weird he implied his previous "home" was, it's kind of strangely comfortable to be in such a place...
Nonetheless, Russell can be found in the clinic around Monday morning, looking at all the medicines. It's kind of hard to tell whether he's actively searching for something, or just... Deadpanning for no apparent reason. He's having trouble finding it hard to keep still, constantly fidgeting with his collar of his shirt, or the cuff.
Although, when he hears the door open he does jump from surprise! He looks more anxious than usual, perhaps even a bit more timid. ]
Uhm . . . Do you need something?
Rest of the week / Wildcard / ect
[ Russell is going to avoiding the watering hole sadly... No more fishing for him :( but..! He'll still be around his usual places. You can find Russell probably sitting by his lonesome in the Church, trying to find a quiet space, or perhaps at an empty table at the saloon, or maybe even in the first floor of the hotel.
[well, this isn't exactly what Milla expected to find when she came to the clinic to refill her supply of painkillers. she stands at the doorway, both eyebrows raised, one hand resting on the frame]
Dr. Lecter advised I take certain medication to ward off the pain of my injury. I'm almost out.
[Shinnosuke's run into a new problem this week: he needs to stock up on supplies again, but, uh.
Now that he's at the general store, he's reminded of the fact that he can't tell what anything is anymore. Consequently, based on a vague remembrance of which shelves he usually picked stuff off of, he's just... kind of shoving random things into a bag.
He'll figure it out back at the hotel???
Just ignore him if what he's grabbing is completely weird or not even, uh, edible. He'll figure it out.]
WILDCARD:
[Throughout the week, Shinnosuke can be found walking around town, feeling up the buildings (not in that way, okay) to get an idea of where he is, before moving onto another one—working on his mental layout of the place, basically.
He's also covered up his eyes with bandages by now, so no one has to look at his spider web disfigurement anymore!!]
throughout the week [Ever-dutiful, Yuna checks the Hero Club request box twice every day. Feel free to leave your requests here, vandalize the box, hassle her while she's checking it, hassle her about it while she isn't checking it, and so on and so on.]
monday late afternoon, homestead [Nothing has ever slowed Yuna Yuki down ever in her entire life; coyote attacks most certainly are not going to change that. Energetic as ever, she hikes up to the homestead after lunch, a basket full of snacks over her arm, and of course wastes no time replacing their contents with her latest batch of picked flowers. She's brought snacks for the animals, too, because while she could definitely eat that much food, she's not going to. Not right now, anyway? Not until she can go back and get more snacks. Let her live.
But anyway, feeding the horses turns into petting the horses turns into Yuna sitting on one's back and sloppily braiding flowers into its mane, scratching behind its ears and softly cooing stupid pet babytalk at it as she does.] Who's a good horsey? Is it you? It is! You're the best horsey.
[god, Yuna.
She's got enough sense not to just start yelling while she's sitting on a horse, but she does sit up straight and wave cheerfully at anyone she sees coming.]
tuesday throughout, out and about [Yuna Yuki is on a mission. What else is new.
A few people have already been assailed by this particular survey, and those people are currently free from her wrath, but she's spending today chasing down absolutely everyone else with a little notepad and pen in her hand. That does, in fact, mean everyone. Even the assholes. Especially the assholes? She has a list of people who have to be surveyed. She's determined.
Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, be prepared for Yuna Yuki.]
Excuse me! Excuse me! Are you busy? I'm taking a short survey, and it's very important.
[clears her throat!!!]
The first thing I need to know is what your favorite color is!
[ah.]
wildcard [AS ALWAYS i am here at nidorina to plot things but yuna is always her usual level of out and about and getting stuff done]
[ The resident wildcard robot is never hard to find around town - the only question is why you'd want to find him. Maybe to punch him in the face?? Respectable.
It's easiest to spot Ash at the hotel itself, where he can often be seen doing any number of odd things for great lengths of time. Rarely does he go up to any of the residential floors; instead, he's usually poking around in any one of the common areas with a sense of purpose. One day, he might be in the kitchen, opening up one of the cabinets and removing all the contents so that he can look around inside of it for... whatever he's looking for more easily. Another day, he's on his hands and knees in the sitting room, snooping under furniture and prying up loose floorboards. Really, he's kind of a pest. The only place he stays away from is the bathhouse. He's not a fan of the humidity.
But, once in a while, he can also be found at the train station. You might expect him to be looking at the wanted posters. But he's not. He's parked in front of the cigarette machine, instead, gathering up multiple packs. Can a robot even smoke...? ]
wildcard
[ if you have another idea, go for it!! ash is anti-social, so this is vague, i know. ]
[ Sometime during the evening, there is a low rumbling from behind the train. Lots of constant movement that sounds sort of like --
... Hooves?
There is the sound of an animal squeal, more likely one of the coyotes roaming around being caught off guard before the pounding gets louder and louder and around the train comes... well, deer.
An excess of deer. A stampede of deer.
It's a mixture of them -- from quiet fawn to large bucks -- and they all seem fairly panicked as they run through the town, trampling anything in their path. The horde seems to be running in the direction of the homestead, passing through the town first as they go. Anything in their path might want to move out of it and if they can't --
Well. There is a loud whine and Diamond Dog seems to have been caught in the stampede and anyone looking too closely will see the poor thing trampled before he can run away. He puts up a good fight but well, it's a few hundred deer versus a dog.
Which also means people might want to get out of the way before they too suffer DD (and a few coyotes, birds, rabbits, etc)'s fate. ]
On Wednesday night, with Xion by his side and the both of them dirtied and bloodied, Shinnosuke will be flagging down people in the hotel. Once he feels a sufficient amount of people have gathered in the lobby, he speaks.]
[ There's blood on her face?? There's blood everywhere. Why
Anyway yeah she's here, but she's little better than a silent ghost haunting Shinnosuke's side, her expression closed off. Seems she's not got much to add, for now. ]
[ When everyone wakes up on Thursday morning (or around 5AM, at least), they'll find Russell currently locked up in the stocks. There's no lock keeping him in place but no matter what, the wooden stocks don't seem to budge. Looks like he's just stuck there for a while. ]
I'm fairly certain you missed most of what I was saying, but I don't know what else I expected. At least you got the most important part. Kind of. Maybe. Not actually really, but I don't know how much clearer I can be without pieces and parts being censored. I didn't get the best look at the letter after the fact, but some of the things that got taken out were ridiculous and wouldn't have helped you much. Others I halfway expected to be missing.
Stop hanging around my grave. It's depressing. Take Mrs. O'Leary on walks around town instead.
Try to eat something healthy for a change. I probably spent everything I could getting you that food, but who knows.
I think we were probably the best couple around. Try not to be a complete moron.
I know that last request is impossible.
It's so frustrating to know things and know they won't get through to you. But I'm writing anyway, and trying anyway, because what else can I really do? Be careful who you adopt, Jackson. Please.

Feel free to bother him. ]

Dr. Lecter advised I take certain medication to ward off the pain of my injury. I'm almost out.

[Ever-dutiful, Yuna checks the Hero Club request box twice every day. Feel free to leave your requests here, vandalize the box, hassle her while she's checking it, hassle her about it while she isn't checking it, and so on and so on.]
monday late afternoon, homestead
[Nothing has ever slowed Yuna Yuki down ever in her entire life; coyote attacks most certainly are not going to change that.
[god, Yuna.
She's got enough sense not to just start yelling while she's sitting on a horse, but she does sit up straight and wave cheerfully at anyone she sees coming.]
tuesday throughout, out and about
[Yuna Yuki is on a mission.

A THING

Laughing. He's genuinely laughing at all of this. Hands braced to his knees as he wheezes with it. This is just too funny, honestly.
What an asshole. ]

On Wednesday night, with Xion by his side and the both of them dirtied and bloodied, Shinnosuke will be flagging down people in the hotel. Once he feels a sufficient amount of people have gathered in the lobby, he speaks.]

Notably, he has Sei's sword on him.]

LETTERS
ANNABETH CHASE
Idiot,
I'm fairly certain you missed most of what I was saying, but I don't know what else I expected.

Please.
I love you. You can do this.
