It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

[in response, Milla splits the remaining pile of bookmarks in half and hands it to Noctis]
The names are on the back, so it should be easy to deliver them to the right people. I'm glad I found these. . . it would have been a shame for them to sit in our room, unused and undiscovered.
[he takes the bookmarks she hands over casually, looking at the names and seeking out the mailboxes they belong to. though he's curious, noctis doesn't spend much time looking at each individual bookmarkâit just feels kind of wrong to do that.]
Yeah. At least you can do that much. She's probably happy about it, too. [she's probably watching it from where she is now, he imagines.]
[yeah, Milla isn't prying into other bookmarks, either. she's also curious, but if the owners of said bookmarks wish to share, she imagines they will]
I hope so. I think she's been working on these since we arrived. I remember waking up in the middle of the night to her tinkering with something in her bed, but she always hid her project from me.

I suppose she wanted to surprise everyone.

[it shouldn't have been like this in any respect, of course. even in just a week, they lost so many of their numbers, after all.]

It took her time to create these.
. . . and our numbers have been dwindling surprisingly quickly.

[the rate that they're losing people is completely absurd, after all.]
I guess... at least they're going where they should now.
