The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:
One of your own is gone.
And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.
Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for the mod replies. Anything to discover or not to will be indicated during the course of the thread.
After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. If there are any questions, please shoot a message either to this journal or at robowest.
[He turns upon hearing Milla's voice and his eyes are wide, panicked a little as he gazes back at the trail of blood once more.]
...tell me that trail doesn't start where I think it starts. [But with Milla, he feels a little less freaked out. Nothing's ever as it seems.] Should we split up in the clinic?
Because there are two bodies lying on the floor just inside the clinic. Natalie Goodman and Hannibal Lecter. Both are covered in a pretty solid amount of blood and both have some pretty nasty wounds. Hannibal has a bear trap going right through his leg and Natalie has some slides on her arm and a massive wound on the side of her head.
They're both pretty firmly unconscious. Anyone want to check what's up with that? ]
[I'm sure Milla's always wanted to hear Percy yell really loudly as he tries not to step on the bodies or in their blood. This is bad? This is so goddamn bad and he's sprinting forward toward Natalie.]
Natalie! [And down he goes. He doesn't care about the blood? He's just going to go through checking her wounds and trying to make sure she's not still bleeding. Most importantly, he's also checking for a pulse because I 100% don't trust Eli.] Milla, check Dr. Lecter. And be careful with that trap!
[Well. Haha fuck! Percy's just going to drag Natalie closer and try to get her back into consciousness if he can? Help him? Why is it always blood and his friends? But also he's eyeing Hannibal closely.]
Natalie's alive. [His voice is shaking just a bit. Oh gods oh gods oh gods.] We need to get her wounds treated, but...Dr. Lecter...?
[After a few moments of trying to get her to wake up, she stirs, and then gasps in pain. When she brings her hand up to touch at the wound on her head, it might be obvious why - there's a deep gash on the back of her hand, deep enough to expose bones and tendons, along with a stab wound on her shoulder.
She sounds and looks pretty disoriented, and she blinks up at him a few times.]
[He's just staring at her for a moment before his eyes scan over her to check out all of her wounds. He doesn't know how to fix this. He doesn't know how to heal mortals. He doesn't know enough first aid to fix this at all and their doctor is dead and there are so many thoughts racing around in his head.
And she asks that question and he chokes on a sob before he shakes his head.]
Clinic. Um. We...need to close your wounds first and then I have a lot of questions, okay? But I don't...[He shoots Milla a look.] What are we supposed to do? [But also he's doing his best to shift Natalie without hurting her worse but to get a closer look to see what exactly, besides her hand, is still injured and actively bleeding and what-not.] The wound on her hand isn't going to close by itself, is it? [Milla please be an adult, he's not thinking clearly.]
[Milla's an adult, and she still has her head, but she also knows little to nothing about first aid. still. . . she stands up, turns towards Natalie, and gives her wounds a quick once-over]
[she suppresses a sympathetic wince, because all of that looks painful. and without Dr. Lecter's help. . .]
Clean and wrap her wounds as best as you can. She'll need-- stitches? [that's what those things that close up injuries are, right?] But we'll have to find someone else who is capable of treating her in that manner.
I can help, but we're going to have to tell the rest of the town about Dr. Lecter.
[A nod follows and he's just kind of moving Natalie's hair to check out the wound on her head, trying not to look at her hand.]
I'll take care of it. But please go find somebody who knows better than I do. And tell them about Dr. Lecter. [And he moves to get up and try to find bandages and disinfectant and etc. He won't stray for long before he returns and by then Milla's probably taken off.]
[ Well, you probably didn't expect Will to show up when the door opens again, Percy. Probably not him. But he's looking a little scruffier than usual now and when he steps inside, his eyes go from Percy, to Hannibal, and then linger right on Natalie.
He stands there for a while, staring right at her. His shoulders slump and he lets out a tiny little laugh. ]
... Oh. Of course. Of course she did.
[ And then he shakes his head and looks back at Hannibal, approaching the body with a blank expression on his face. He kneels down to reach out, placing fingers against his throat to feel for his pulse even though he knows, without a doubt, that Hannibal is dead. He continues to frown and look and look and look and after a moment, his head shakes like he's clearing a thought away and murmurs -- ]
Just as the worshiper feels close to Christ in the Eucharist, I will eat in memory of you.
[ And then he stands back up and without looking at Percy and Natalie, heads right back out the clinic, head ducked and hands tucked into his sweater. ]

It does. It begins at the hotel entrance and leads here. Someone was injured gravely just outside.
[at his question, she gives a curt nod]
Let's split up and investigate as swiftly as possible.

[Percy bolts towards Natalie, and Milla bolts towards Hannibal, crouching down at his side and immediately reaching out to check for a pulse]
Dr. Lecter! Can you hear me?!
[she eyes the bear trap too but doesn't reach out to touch it just yet]

Good news: Natalie has a pulse! Yay for Natalie! She is still pretty heavily injured though.
Bad news: Hannibal Lecter is dead and you are now suuuuper fucked. ]

[Milla's eyes slip shut, and she lifts her hand to close Hannibal's should they still be open. respect :(]
