CURRENT POPULATION: 40 It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings. ... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours! After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts. This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. [Wanted posters of Ana are nothing new. Wanted posters of Ana with her face on them, however, are pretty new. She pauses upon seeing her face staring back at her, all the 'wanted for' labels accounted for. All that had made it on the posters at home, rather. There's a lot that should be on there and she counts herself lucky that whatever brought her here isn't benevolent.]

I suppose I am that old... Time flies.

[To be real she's lost track. With that and a "that's fair, I guess" purse of her lips she keeps on walking along.]

b. around town;

[And she keeps on walking for most of the time this week. Ana will greet every passer-by with a nod and a simple greeting. You might catch her leaving the hotel, picking up food from the general store, or scouting the outskirts of town. This is the time for casual conversation and introductions!]

c. hotel kitchen (day and night edition);

[You'll find a small posting as you enter the hotel:

"I will be preparing food around 4 pm every day in the hotel kitchen. If you would like to we can share a meal together. If you would not, there may be leftovers in the fridge. Feel free to eat."
It's not her job to cook for people, it's just an offer for those who couldn't or wouldn't do it themselves or those who would prefer some company. It's the decent thing to do. So maybe you'll come and grab some food with her! If not you might catch her hanging around in the kitchen in the evening, drinking some tea and pushing sleep further and further away from her.]

d. later in the week, around town;

[By this time you're probably familiar with the tall old lady with the eyepatch who says hello to everyone. You've certainly run into her at least once, if just in passing, or seen her from afar. What you might notice by now is she hasn't changed clothes. She's still in the very same gettup she was when you all arrived here.

[ The Undertaker was always more familiar with traversing at night. Even if shinigami needed sleep he still finds himself awake at present. Despite being fully human and having studied them so extensively for years on end, he's not exactly good at it. But he does find his way into the kitchen one night black garbed as usual.

He'll spot Ana with her tea and meander on over. His curiosity the main driving force of his next statement. ]

Most humans would use this time to rest. Sleep is something they can hardly do much without. [ All things considered its the same for shinigami too, but he doesn't mention that. ]

[Weird-ass word choice aside.]

That may be true, but I believe I'm old enough to tuck myself in when I choose.

[ That posting got her attention.

And yet, 4 PM on the day she spots it, she doesn't quite ... make herself known. If Ana looks up from her preparations, she might spot Xion peeking into the kitchen, looking curious and a little dubious. Once spotted, Xion will squeak, flinching as if she might hide before she seems to realize she doesn't have to. ]

Um.... hi. I'm not interrupting you, am I?

[beyeotic]

[Nothing ever goes unnoticed with her, don't you worry. She stops for a moment to smile and nod to Xion before returning to her work.]

Not at all, dear, don't worry yourself. Come and take a seat if you'd like.

[ceded]

[ ... oh. She's nice. Xion relaxes marginally and smiles a little, slipping into the kitchen to find a seat. ]

Thanks. So, what're you making? [ Asked idly as she kicks her feet. ]

Kushari-- it's noodles with lentils and tomatoes, nothing fancy. [Ana can't really cook fancy things anyway but that's not the point.] I'm almost done, if you'd like some.

[ Russell's been dealing with two problems - he either can't fall asleep, or when he does... He tends to oversleep! This is what happens when you were force to sleep A Lot before coming here. Normal sleeping schedule, what's that?

Either way... He looks pretty tired. However, he definitely noticed the smell of tea coming from the kitchen. ]

Oh... [ Is he interrupting... ] Is there a reason why you're here.. By yourself?

[Oh the plight of being young. What a weight you carry.

Ana sets down her tea before he can even round the corner, ready to greet him. She smiles and nods as a hello.]

Just taking in the quiet for now.. It's nice every once and a while. [Better take a quick sip of that tea before it gets too cold.] Looking to have the kitchen all to yourself, I assume?

A lot of people have been arguing with that sheriff guy lately... There's a lot of noise, and people.

[ So, taking refuge in the quiet hotel seems to be a bit better! He doesn't feel like it'll relax anytime soon... Considering how people are still tense about the entire killing thing - Russell still has all that on his mind. ]

Well... Not really.. It's kind of difficult getting use to this place so I thought I'd walk around... The tea smelled nice, too.

[Oh so that's why he seems to be so weighed-down. It is a lot to take in, especially with all the commotion. Ana takes the time to listen to what he has to say rather than chiming in with her own two cents right away.]

Would you like me to make you some tea? It's as nice as it smells. Though, I won't stop you from going for a walk if that's what you'd rather do.

[ It's fairly late at night, when Diego enters the kitchen, giving it a wary look around like he's expecting trouble. He notices the old woman and narrows his eyes for a moment, and then relaxes very deliberately, confident smile sliding onto his face ]

Oh, convenient. You can assist me.

[ Huffs, maybe annoyed, but it mostly stays off his face ]

I think not many would agree with you. This place has been sold to us as fairly dangerous! And I think that's putting people on edge.

[As he's passing by, Ezio overhears her comment and well, obviously then quickly goes to check her poster out of curiosity. His mother was 58 now, wasn't she...]

Although they say true beauty never fades...

[He pipes in from behind her.]

And I would say that's certainly true for you, madonna.

[Wow. Gettin a little fresh there, aren't we? Ana folds her arms across her chest, turning to face her faire Romeo.]

You're quite the flatterer, aren't you?

[Ezio shrugs, giving the woman a charming smile.]

Is it really flattery if it's true?

[ Hey there, Ana! Have a Will. He's come to join you for tea time -- or rather, it's later, he has a pilfered bottle of whiskey, and isn't really expecting to run into anyone in the kitchen.

He just blinks in response, an awkward delay before he clears his throat and lifts a hand in greeting. ]

Can't sleep?

[Ana reciprocates the motion, a welcoming smile gracing her face.]

Delaying it. [She moves her hand to the seats across from her.] Care to join me?

[ Higekiri's here for probably the same reason Ana, or anyone else would be looking at these posters: satisfying curiosity, as well as knowing "hey, what's on my head?" ]

Sixty... That's a long time for a human. But that means you've done a good job of living.

[ Thinking positively? He doesn't judge on what's been done with those years, but people generally want a long life. Those who don't... well, it's usually sad. ]

[It's an interesting turn-of-phrase but she isn't going to get too hung up on that whole "human" thing. There's something strangely nice about the latter statement. Ana will allow herself to appreciate it.]

I like to think I have, all things considered. [Those "things considered" being her 'wanted for' labels. Convenient and probably for the best those were glossed over.] And there is a lot to consider.

It's surprising how much you can still learn in life, even if it moves quickly.

[ He's truly lived for much less than what his poster says, to be honest... but he's seen a lot of lives go by. Regardless of that, the people he's met here have been decent, and it's not like a lot of the "crimes" they've committed can apply here. ]

A lot of people are younger than us. I would think a life cut so short is depressing, but that's also a reality here.

GRANDMA - c, day

[As a vegetarian, Damian has no use for the deer he hunted for and killed. It had been done somewhat as a means to keep himself busy, but also as a hidden means to keep the other people fed.

He didn't enjoy the slaughter, surprisingly, (he never does with animals) but he did it regardless.

So in comes a ten year old boy with more than several cheese cloths worth of cut, prepared meat chunks. He doesn't say anything while Ana is cooking, only finds a place to deposit the meat where it won't spoil: some out for Ana right now, if she needs it; some to be put away for later; some that he has already stripped and crudely smoked for a day or so at the homestead. Jerky.]

[Ana isn't trying to call anyone out but do you think you're being sneaky there, buster? Honestly he's probably not but regardless this doesn't go unnoticed by any means. Nothing goes unnoticed around her, no sirree.

She turns barely an inch to acknowledge Damian. That sure is a child with a bunch of bloody meat chunks.]

Do you need help or are you having fun all on your own?

[bittybat]

[Damian doesn't answer or turn around until he's finished putting things away. When he does, he takes a moment to look Ana over, see what she's like in a more personal space. He's only seen her here and there after getting off the train.] I don't need help.

I brought deer meat. I'm a vegetarian, so I don't want it, but everyone else in the town is going to starve, or, worse, get poisoned if they keep eating things the Sheriff gives us.
