CURRENT POPULATION: 40 It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings. ... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours! After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts. This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. a. wanted posters

[ Nisha's mostly trying to commit to memory the names and crimes on everyone else's posters, but when she gets to hers, she chuckles. ]

Heh, I'd forgotten about that one. Good times.

b. outside of town

[ She's been gracious enough to go far enough outside of town to not alarm people with the gunshot, but you still might hear it if you're exploring or hanging out at the homestead. They don't have a lot of bullets, but Nisha's not going to trust a new gun in a crisis situation, so she's taken her assigned pistol and set up a can on a rock to take a shot at it from twenty paces away.

She hits it dead on. ]

Alright, workable.

[ She does have another pistol on her hip as well—a fancier one, with a bayonet blade attached to it. ]

c. drinking

[ She drank the first night, and she's going to keep drinking every night after that. It's impressive that the saloon doesn't seem to run out of booze.

Besides, it's a good way to get to know people. ]

[ By comparison, Hannibal doesn't exactly spend his time in the saloon. It's not his sort of scene, really, since he'd much prefer to have drinks around a dinner table. But alas. He can't have everything here, and so he ends up heading to the saloon for largely the same reasons. It's not a bad way to meet people, and with forty to meet, there are still quite a few on his list. At least until the supposed murders start, but.

Hannibal is behind the bar working on something a bit more elaborate, having even brought in garnishes from the kitchen that he'd worked on. He's just a tiny bit pretentious. ]

Experimenting for the evening. As tequila seems to be one of the prefered drinks, I'm trying my hand at bartending with it. It's not a spirit I tend to use often.

[ He smiles at her, then tilts the bottle her way with a small smile ]

Whether they're good or not remains to be seen. Of course, you can provide second opinions if you would like.

I can provide as many opinions on liquor as you need.

[ She grins at him. ]

You a bartender? You don't really look the part.

[ At least, compared to any bartender she's previously had experience with. ]

[ His smile quirks a bit more, but he's definitely amused by her assessment. ]

In my own home. Never in a bar properly, so this is a first.

[ With her at least implied acceptance of his equally implied offer, he starts to mix a drink, though it'll probably take some time, which is clear. The way he prepares the drink is elegant, though that word may not be often given to bartending. ]

Any particular preference for flavor? Or strength, for that matter.

I like 'em strong, for sure. I'm not really picky about flavor. You've probably got more refined taste than me.

[ Jack tried his best to get her to appreciate high-end booze, and it was plenty good, but but there's something to be said for a drink that punches you in the face and doesn't cut too far into your gun budget. The kind of drink that feels more like you're just reveling in how much money you have than enjoying getting drunk isn't really her thing. ]

I'll do my best to appreciate the effort, though.

[Nisha has an audience! Sort of. Ocelot has come over to watch, just in time to see that short. And walking at his side is a grown wolf wearing an eye-patch. Ocelot claps his gloved hands a couple times.]

You're pretty good.

[ She turns to look at him and slings the pistol on her back. ]

I'm more than pretty good, but I'm not going to waste my ammo trying to impress anyone.

[ She stares at the wolf, but not because it's a wolf, exactly. She's never seen a wolf before. 'Dogs' on Pandora tend to be covered in leathery armor plating and have triple jaws. Horns optional. ]

That your pet?

Sure. Pet and partner. His name's D-Dog, or DD.

[DD woofs and wags at the sound of his name.]

What sort of guns are those? Mind if I take a closer look?

[ Nisha gives the dog a dubious look before looking back up. ]

The one I was testing is just the one he's given everyone. It's pretty old-fashioned. The other one is my favorite one from home, though. I found it in my room.

[ She pulls the latter out of her holster and holds it out for him to inspect, by the barrel. ]

You can take a look, but I think I'll make sure to keep my hands on it for now, sorry.

Do you think learning all that information will help you?

[ ash is lurking by the cigarette machine once again, a new pack in his hands. Normally, he wouldn't bother striking up conversation with a Lesser Being (TM), but he'd looked over the posters earlier. He wasn't impressed. ]

You're wasting your already-limited time. They're nonsensical.

Wow, you're a treat, aren't you?

[ Her voice is wry, but doesn't seem particularly offended. ]

At the very least it'll give me everyone's names and faces, and it's good for a laugh, even if the leads aren't worth anything.

[ She glances back at the posters and finds his. ]

You're mature for your age.

Age is a meaningless number for someone like me. As are the rest of the numbers on that page.

Sure. So what would your seven years of wisdom recommend I do with my time that's more productive, out of curiosity?

[ Okay, generally Will likes to keep his opinions to himself. Not in a "keep the peace" kind of way but more that he just... doesn't like... talking to people... ever. Sharing opinions with them kind of goes along with that whole thing.

Still, he's taking a look at his own poster when he looks up to see Nisha at hers. He can't help but read it and the first part doesn't concern him but the second. ]

I'm pretty sure sexual acts can't be licensed.

[ WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW, WILL. ]

Oh, they definitely can. By assholes who like the power trip of making rules about everything.

[ She says, brazenly ignoring the hypocrisy of her talking about power trips and making rules. ]

Kinda hard to enforce them, though, unless you're monitoring everyone's bedrooms. And offices. And... city streets.

[sweats]

[ Every new thing that comes out of Nisha's mouth just makes Will more flabbergasted so, he latches onto the last part at least. Since that, uh, makes most sense. Yes. ]

-- City streets? Aren't those already monitored?

Depends on what city you're in, I suspect. And patrols aren't gonna catch everything.

[ More's the pity. It's a shame to think that real crimes could fall under the radar. If it's her radar. ]

[Tarvek has the feeling it's the first one, but yeah, his face is visibly red. Not that being a tad flustered will stop him from making conversation]

[ She grins. ]

What's the story behind the smuggling of creatures to another planet? That's not the kind of thing that happens everyday.

It was just a job while I was on the moon. Some sorta scientist guy down on Pandora wanted us to grab these a couple smaller threshers and have his boyfriend ship 'em down to him. Kinda a pain in the ass, we had to kill all the bigger ones and freeze the little ones alive. We stuck 'em in the rocket and shot 'em down. Guess they lived and everything, since the things are all over the place now.

[ She glances back at the wall and scans for his poster. ]

...Nothing too exciting on yours, huh? Just keeping a low profile, or are you that boring?

[After her time with Mr. Dewitt, her weariness around guns and the violence they bring is...less so. Not by much, but it's something she realized then and now she'd have to get used to, and with him gone and the information they gained from the meeting, maybe even learn. She watches Nisha from a few paces away, careful not to interrupt her concentration till she's done.]

[ Nisha holsters the pistol and tips her hat. ]
