The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this: One of your own is gone. And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate. Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for mod replies. Anything to discover will be indicated during the course of the thread. After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. [hydrokinetics]

[It was the last place they really saw the Sheriff outside of his station and it's the first place Percy thinks to check. So. How are things here?]

[moraled]

[An investigation is a necessary part of any murder; Barnham's lips are pressed into a thin line, but he just silently nods to Percy and steps forward.

Time to look around!]

[sheriffexe]

[ It doesn't look like anything is amiss at the Town Hall, nope! But they can probably see something out of the back windows, towards the Church. ]

[hydrokinetics]

Mr. Barnham. [The way he says it is quiet, like he's unsure of what's going on even as they look inside town hall and give the area a sweep. He does step further into the building, waiting for Barnham to follow. Let's see what we can see from the windows.] Do you get the feeling something really, really bad's about to happen here?

[moraled]

[... Well. That's uncertain.]

...I am afraid that something "really, really bad" has already occurred, young Percy. Let us see...

[He approaches the window too, naturally, frowning.]

[ When they look out the window, very noticeable in the dirt is a trail of blood. It seems to be going from the railroad station to the church. ]

[hydrokinetics]

So much for hoping for the best. [It's grumbled and he's annoyed until he gets to the window and peers outside. He blinks once, twice, and he scoots to let Barnham take a look.]

...we should go. [They should go investigate that? Or find people who're already there? Something. He's antsy, shifting on his feet suddenly and wishing he had brought Mrs. O'Leary but this is All Kinds Of Not Good.] We need to follow it.

[moraled]

Naturally.

[Barnham's already striding out the door and towards the blood, expression stiff and flat.]

Come, we do not have any time to waste.

[Time to see which direction the blood's leading.]

[ Cal made a mistake and tagged this when she forgot there was evidence here. So, I have to shame her in public.

That said, the blood is thicker in the direction of the railroad but the trail gets thinner the more it heads towards the graveyard. ]

[I always approve of shaming Cal, sorry Cal. Percy's turning to follow after Barnham but he stops as he peers through the window one more time. With that, he's quickly following.]

There's two different trails, Mr. Barnham. [He can't believe this, it's been a week! A week!!! Let him rest.] The railroad and the graveyard, this was the middle point. It looks pretty bad heading toward the train but it also looks like it stopped at the graveyard. Which way should we go?

... Towards the graveyard. I believe we should follow this to its end, regardless of what it was.
