The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this: One of your own is gone. And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate. Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for mod replies. Anything to discover will be indicated during the course of the thread. After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. An example. [ She's finally starting to get upset, shaking a little. ] What if it was all just ... an example ...? Using people's lives...!

[The anger and desperation are starting to rise into his throat, and it shows in the way his voice becomes strangled:] Well, they're using people's lives anyway, aren't they? Telling us to kill each other? They're no exception; they can't be.

[ Shaking like a leaf, Xion sniffs and rubs at her face with her arms. ]

We don't matter at all.... and those two girls, they -- they mattered even less. They didn't even get a choice...

[Aw, shit, he upset the girl.]

[He doesn't lose his dire expression, but merely moves closer to Xion, as if to comfort her.] We have to figure this out. We have to band together if we're ever going to get out of here. They see us as nothing, but... We have to make that change!

like she is really crying. hiccuping and gasping, the whole works.

... but despite that, she nods furiously at his words. ]

[He shifts in closer, placing a heavy hand on Xion's shoulder and hoping it isn't unwelcome. Softly, he continues:] Hey. Can I tell you a story?

[ She hardly seems to mind the contact. In fact, she looks up, still crying, but she tries hard to calm down, breathing deep and swallowing. Not trusting herself to speak, she simply nods. ]

It's a possibility, one we'd do well to keep in mind. It can't be a coincidence one is dead and the other is missing.

[Tarvek internally sighs in relief when the other grave doesn't have the other girl's corpse inside]

It is certainly a possibility we will all remember.

However, allowing our minds to be clouded with half-formed judgments shall prove fatal in a place such as this.

We must find the truth; there is no other option.

Indeed. For now, our most important course of action is discovering all of the evidence we possibly can--and finding that other girl.

We must not leave any possibilities unchecked.
