The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this: One of your own is gone. And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate. Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for mod replies. Anything to discover will be indicated during the course of the thread. After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. [she seems surprisingly calm despite the situation, her posture and expression completely unreadable. truthfully, she's angry-- but she's suppressing it as much as she can]

I can't say I'm surprised. I was prepared for this. Humans are, at their very core, selfish.

[he's really displeased with it all. the start of innocent people dying for some stupid game—where it seems like their hands are tied.]

Would've been too much to hope that we'd be on the same page about not playing along with their crap.

I had hoped everyone would be willing to come together, no matter the circumstances. For as selfish as humanity is, I believe in its goodness.

[Jude had taught her that. heck, not just Jude, but everyone from home. still. . . she takes a breath]

Now it is our turn to ensure whomever did this to Ao is caught.

[it's something he wants to believe in too, but life here and back home have been really working to shake his belief in that. but he's trying, steeling himself a bit.]

Yeah. We can't... just sit here and let things like this happen. [they need to figure that part out, noct can't be swayed on that.]

Whomever did this knew what risks they'd be taking by killing Ao. Actions have consequences.

[she doesn't care about "justice." she just cares about showing people that they can't expect not to face reality for the decisions they've made]

[there are a lot of questions, like motive and willingness beyond playing the game. noct's not asking those right now.]

Then we have to figure out what comes next, too. [can they deal with it without losing other lives?]

Find a way out, obviously.

But in the meantime, we should focus our efforts on locating Ao's killer. [. . .] And giving Ao a proper burial.

Right. Ao didn't deserve this... she should at least be buried with some dignity.

[because this is fucked up. he's pretty sure getting out won't be that simple either, but they sure can discuss that part later.]

She and Tiara were the only two without graves. If we can find space in this graveyard, we could make one for her.

It's weird. They don't have graves, they were locked up. I wonder what was really so different with them.

I've heard a few theories on what purpose they served. None of them are pleasant.

They may have been brought here as a test for us. A body to motivate everyone into playing along with the game's rules.

It was never meant to be anything but an abhorrent display of cruelty. We can only move forward from this point.

[milla really needs to teach noct the KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!! mantra, he's not as plucky as jude. saying that so easily is tough.]

Guess... we just have to see what we can find for now.
