INVESTIGATION

The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this: One of your own is gone. And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate. Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for mod replies. Anything to discover will be indicated during the course of the thread. After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. [It would be so easy to laugh at her. He's already tempted to laugh over this entire thing as it is—of course someone was going to die, weren't they?—and given how he's acted towards Yuna, it would be so easy.

... It should be, anyway.

But he doesn't, and instead he looks surprisingly somber.]

... Maybe you shouldn't be here right now.

[cherrypuncher]

N-no, but she...didn't do anything...! She was locked up all week, so why...would anyone...

[She probably shouldn't be here, and it's a good effort on Shinnosuke's part (in his defense, she'd be way worse off if he took the snarky route), but Yuna doesn't get any farther than stumbling a few steps back, clamping her hand over her mouth, and starting to bawl.

SO YUNA'S HAVING A GRAND OL' TIME]

[He watches her passively, which might come off as callous, but for Shinnosuke, that's pretty nice, really.]

... She was probably intended to be a sacrifice from the very beginning.

[He pauses, before he reaches to put a hand on her shoulder. His expression doesn't look sympathetic, but, again.]

So you have to stay strong... right, Miss Hero Club? This is just the start, after all—and weren't you planning on helping everyone? You can't do that if this alone gets to you like this.

[Sacrifice—that just makes her cry harder; she's sick just at the sight of this, she's never seen so much blood, never seen death like this. That would be enough even if Ao wasn't her friend, even if she could imagine handling the idea that Ao's life didn't mean anything to whoever's behind this.

But Shinnosuke puts his hand on her shoulder, calls her Miss Hero Club, reminds her what she'd wanted to do from the start. She hiccups and wipes at her eyes, clearly struggling to pull herself together but putting forward one hell of an effort.]

Shinnosuke-kun... [sniff sniff] If Ao's here, then has anyone seen Miss Tiara?

[insincerely]

... No, I don't think so.

[She could be dead, or she could be the murderer, he thinks but won't say right now when it seems like Yuna'll fall apart if he does.]

Somebody probably would've mentioned it, or brought her along, or at the very least, we wouldn't all be gathering here otherwise.
