INVESTIGATION

The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:

One of your own is gone.

And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.

[ What a good dog. ]

Yeah, that should be easy enough. Then let's split up-- Noctis and our other classy lady can follow his dog, and Percy and the serious-looking one with the glasses can come with me and climb trees and look under cows or whatever. Let's keep that shed by the lake in mind, too.

[ Except she's already heading for the trees/farm, what have you. ]

[ C-Classy lady???

Xion actually looks around a few times before she realizes Sara means her. And then she flushes out of embarrassment and nods a few times. ]

O-Okay! I wish I'd brought Pluto... Let's go, Noctis!

[ She'll trot off after Umbra ... wherever she went. Is that ... a garden up ahead? ]

[There's a funny little smile because that's cute, thanks for being awesome, Sara. With Xion and Noctis on their way, he looks back at Sara and Harry and gestures for them to head toward the orchards first, along with where the cows and horses are.]

If I had to guess? I'd say she's hidden somewhere nobody would expect to find her.

Aside from one of the graves, then... well, if she looks like a fancy princess, maybe a pigpen? Bale of hay?

[ Well, she'll be checking every tree they pass under, just in case. Where's Ezio to swan dive out of nowhere into hay stacks anyway-- ]

Bale of hay actually isn't a bad idea. [He's checking around the bases of trees, too as they plod along.] They're sturdy enough she could hide in a stack of them.

Do you think we're really looking in the right place? [Is there anything to be found in these trees?]

[ ♪♪♪ ]

[ APPARENTLY THERE ARE JUST A BUNCH OF CHICKENS. Better than ducks. ]

I think we're probably going to look in a lot of places that seem pretty pointless, and with our luck, she was napping under a bed the whole time.

Buuuut there's no reason we can't go look at some hay!

[ Time to investigate hay stacks now, sure why not. ]

[WHY IS THIS FARM THIS WAY.]

Sounds uncomfortable. [But off they go! And since it seems like another group found Tiara we can probably assume they're looking everywhere on the farm and finding nothing of note?]

[bye umbra! really, umbra does what he wants anyway so it's not like noct has all that much control—but since he's there to help noct, he figures umbra will report back if he finds something useful.

either way, noct's moving cautiously; it's land he's tread before, but with the situation as it is, it's hard not to be too careful. regardless, he's focused—the shed is definitely a good starting point and they can work around from there.

though it gives him time to ask while they walk:]

Pluto?

[ Xion's not quite as cautious. Again, she's familiar with the area, and her movements show it. Plus, a sense of urgency drives her on; though, when she notices Noctis is taking his time, she reins herself in a little. ]

Oh... my dog! [ She smiles a little, wan though it is. ] I'm sure he would've wanted to help. But... when I realized something was wrong this morning... I told him to stay in my room. I ...

[ ... didn't want him getting hurt. Her smile disappears and she focuses instead on searching the area. There's gardens, and the shed up ahead... ]

[he's familiar too—but he has to be cautious.]

Stay on your guard. [he warns after a quiet him. a lot of dogs in this place (he's not complaining), but that definitely can't be the focus.]

The shed's an easy hiding spot, but we don't know if anything... or anyone is waiting to make some hell for us.

[he'll be as ready as he can for that, but there's only so much he can do. shed first, that's his priority.]

[ Sobering, Xion nods. ]

It's okay. I--

[ Wait. Aw, shoot. ]

... I can fight.

[ Without a weapon... she can't summon it anymore! If only she had a stick.

Xion will nod at Noctis to go ahead and open the shed, ready and waiting as backup for ... whatever might be in there. ]

[ Nothing in here! Don't shed a tear about it though, Xion. ]

Unless you've got a weapon, there's not much fighting you can do. Unless you know how to use your pistol.

[he only points it out because she has no visible weapon—he doesn't right now either, much to his chagrin. he does have the pistol tucked away, but... y'know. hoping for the best.

he's cautious as he grasps the handle; he's opened this door a few times already this week but...

it's still nothing.]

...Just like it was yesterday.

[ ... very quietly: ]

I don't want to use a gun.

[ Well, at least there's nothing in there. Xion sighs expansively at the whole lot of nothing and helps shut the doors. ]

We can search the garden...

Then leave the gunslinging to me if we need it.

[for... whatever that's worth. he's looking out for her before nodding in agreement.]

Yeah. the more ground we cover, the better. Let's go.
