[ WEEK ONE – INVESTIGATION ]

INVESTIGATION

The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:

One of your own is gone.

And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.

Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for mod replies. Anything to discover will be indicated during the course of the thread.

After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. If there are any questions, please shoot a message either to this journal or at [plurk.com profile] robowest.

Yes.

They were just like us, and they did not deserve this.

Ao did not deserve this.

[opens her eyes again and forces herself to relax. getting angry, giving into emotion. . . that won't help]

We need to find out who is responsible for this.

[ Xion flinches, though it's not clear what exactly caused her to do so. She pulls in a breath that shivers with tears and squares her shoulders, trying to look much braver than she feels. ]

... justice, right?

[ Softly spoken, echoing the Sheriff's words. ]

Something like that.

[but truthfully, she's less interested in the intangible concept of "justice" than she is. . .]

If someone is willing to play the game, then they must be prepared for the consequences. The killer reaps what they sow.

[. . . making sure that Ao's murderer understands that actions have consequences]

... we're all being ... forced to do this. If we don't kill... something even worse might happen. But if we do... no matter what... we're just going to die, aren't we? Even more people are going to die.

[oh no Xion :( she can see that moral crisis going on in Xion's head]

It's possible.

[she isn't gonna beat around the bush, here. the truth sucks]

But take heart in knowing there are things those of us who are still alive can do. There are many places in this town we have yet to search-- surely one of them leads to an exit or an escape route.

[ HAHA YEA BOI one way train to fucked up headville

Something about Milla's words seems to jar Xion, and she breathes again, not having even realized she was holding her breath. She gives her head a shake, some of the tension seeping from her shoulders. ]

... do you ... really believe that? That there's ... a way out?

[personal profile] thatsthespirit 2017-01-21 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I do.

[firm!!]

And while I think there's a high chance there will be more casualties, I'd still like to think there's a way for everyone to make it out of this town alive.

[ She breathes.

And then she nods, some of her conviction returning. ]

I ... that's what I want to believe, too. We just have to work together!

[that's better]

Precisely.

Now, let's get to work.
