It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest.
[Mrs. O'Leary can smell the burning flesh and she growls, barking at the Sheriff while running around the bonfire trying to get a better look. Percy stays rooted in his spot, staring at the flames before looking at the Sheriff again.]
Was this your plan all along? Did we send them off the wrong way? [A gesture to the fire.] This wasn't the right way either. You could have kept her in one piece.
[ The Sheriff will looks down at the dog before back at Percy, picking up a piece of dry wood and tossing it into the fire. ]
Nah, it's -- [ He pauses, considers. ] Hard to explain. You'll figure it out the more bodies we get. Burying 'em won't do anything since I'm the one who's supposed to deal with them.
[ But right, to clarify: ]
Easier to toss it in if I chop it up first though. Otherwise it takes forever to burn.
Really. [No. No, he has suspicions and thoughts and suddenly he looks a little more open to this idea which probably looks crazy to anyone who doesn't know Percy that well, but he tilts his head at the thought.] For your employers, right? This is part of your job?
[He would take a deep breath but. You know. Corpse fumes. Mrs. O'Leary's done barking and she's sniffing at the Sheriff, not sure what to make of him.]
It's still not proper, man. [He does lick his lips, debating to himself and remembering something Annabeth told him.] Um. Would you...I mean are you up for discussing that? This? Whatever? [Another gesture to the fire.]
[ All the Sheriff does at the first question is nod and give a short -- ]
Yep.
[ It's part of his job. The other part though, has the Sheriff frowning even deeper into his beard. He looks at Percy for a moment before shaking his head. ]
[Well this just supports that his employers are fucked up, but Percy kind of already suspected that. Still...that's also not promising.]
If they're already dead, they can't feel any more pain, Sheriff. And if you're burning them you could at least wrap them in a burial shroud. That's all. [Like you do you, whatever, but if you're disturbing the perfectly nice burial they gave the girls please consider maybe doing a different but appropriate approach. And then, lightly:] It'll burn just as fast.
Oh. Well that throws him for a loop and he's quiet for a moment, watching the fire burn the remains of Tiara's body.]
Are you allowed to tell us why that is? Or is it one of those "wait until more of us die" things? [He doesn't want more people to die??? But this is suddenly not making sense.]
Never hurts to ask. [But, for once, Percy backs off. He gives the Sheriff another skeptical look but he nods, backing away and whistling for Mrs. O'Leary to follow.] As you were, Sheriff.
[He's going to go stew on this somewhere else, it seems.]

No. That'd defeat the point. This ain't for 'em, it's for you.

Wait till more people die. More bodies to deal with. Makes more sense, I suppose. I'd tell ya but I also won't. Maybe if you earn it.

I have more questions for you, but I guess I have to earn those answers, too? My own merit and stuff.
no subject
Yeah, pretty much. None of it's gonna make sense till later anyone so what's the point?
