It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest.
All that hullabaloo with Tiara's corpse is Just Fine, even if Xion honestly does not understand the problem. She won't be callous about it - people seem upset and she wants to sympathize - their anger just doesn't really make any sense to her at all. So she just kind of ... leaves the whole thing alone.
Either way, hey, she's got new threads! She's clearly been to the tailor. She's wearing ... exclusively clothes made for boys, and generally they are monochromatic. Dark browns if she can't find black. But her long black coat is missing, and will remain missing throughout the rest of the week.
Today, she can be found by the stocks, examining them curiously with Pluto looking Really Unsure About This by her side. If anyone comes up to her, she'll turn and ask: ]
What are these?
all week until thursday afternoon;
[ More wandering!
Though, for whatever reason, Xion does not at all go out of her way to avoid people this week. She just kind of hangs out in town, checking out stores (especially the boarded up mortician, because what the hell is a mortician) and talking to people she runs into, especially if she knows them. She couldn't be described as cheerful, but given how rough the weekend was on her, she seems a great deal calmer.
Find her at the railroad station frowning at the train and looking unsettled. The moment a shadow passes over one of the windows she'll point and go: ]
There it is again! Did you see that?!
[ She's not spending quite as much time at the graveyard, though she can still be found there in the evenings in front of her own grave just like last week. Curiously, she also seems to hang out near the Sheriff Station a lot. What's she doing?
No matter where she is, she always has Pluto with her as long as she's not at the hotel. When she is there, she spends a lot of time tucked away in the library concentrating intensely on a book. The book changes throughout the week, but the intensity of her concentration does not. At one point, this book is definitely just a big fat dictionary. She's reading the dictionary.
Incidentally - though the girl herself does not really spend time near the wanted posters this week - Xion's own poster seems slightly different somehow. What's up with that? ]

These? They are called stocks. They are made for... [Tarvek gestures hesitantly with his hands] ...for restraining prisoners. It's very uncomfortable and cruel.
[ That stuns her. She even looks a little horrified before she gives her head a hard shake and frowns at the stocks again. ]
... oh. I ... but what about the jail? I thought... [ A beat, and she looks at Tarvek again. ] Do you think this is what Sheriff Hal meant when he talked about consequences?
[Tarvek may be getting the wrong idea, because he hurries to add:]
I'm not insinuating you'd do something to upset him for no reason at all! I just--
[Agh. Instead he shut ups, intending to change topics before he verbally digs a hole for himself]
Speaking of matters that'd make the Sheriff angry, we all should start thinking a way to open up the boarded-up places without risking our lives and health. There's a couple places that'd come useful for us as a group if we can get in them.
Do you think he'd be willing to listen to us about this matter?
[Tarvek has talked about the Sheriff already, and although he's relatively approachable, doing stuff for everyone's benefit may be a tad too much to ask directly.
Some sort of alternate way may be needed, so while he waits for Xion's opinion Tarvek starts thinking of some way]
[So Shinnosuke entered the library because hey, not a lot of ways to spend one's time here—except then he sees Xion and warning bells go off in his head.
... She seems focused on her book, right?? (... Is that a dictionary.) She hasn't noticed him yet, so there's still hope for him, right??? If it'd been anyone else (well, almost anyone else), he might've paused to make a snarky comment, but Xion is just going to be a pain in the ass, he knows, so he really should make his escape while he can.
[ It's too late, Shinnosuke. Her jerk friend senses are tingling.
Or maybe it's some other thing that gets her to sense she isn't alone and abruptly look up, startled. Either way, it's too late. When she sees who it is, she starts to beam, and then seems to realize he won't appreciate it, given that she swallows her smile down into something a little less blinding. ]
Shinnosuke! Hi. [ She curls a finger over the pages of her dicitonary (yes. it's a dictionary.) and uses it like a bookmark, closing the book over it and hugging the tome to her chest as she stands. ]
Were you coming to find something to read? There's so much here! It's amazing.
I wasn't ever allowed to learn stuff like this, before. I think I would have gotten in big trouble if I tried. Did you get to learn from books, Shinnosuke?
[Percy should really take Xion's example and get some new pants because he's still wandering around in his ripped up jeans. On the other hand, Mrs. O'Leary moves in to say hello to Pluto while Percy looks over at the stocks.]
I've seen these in movies and stuff before. They're used to lock people up for crimes they commit. Kind of like an outside jail? Sometimes people through fruit at people locked up in the stocks since it's public.
[What a precious child, what the fuck. Anyway, he laughs a bit because at least Xion's priorities are right and he shrugs in response.]
It's a waste of food, but some people like to make others go through public humiliation and shaming. [Which is rude, but.] It also means exposing them to stuff like rain or wild animals.
It's possible. [Which sucks.] Those things are probably pretty hard to get out of. If we're meant to fend for ourselves and have to deal with whatever comes? Sounds like consequences to me.
Sort of makes you wonder if the coyotes are our biggest problem though.
[ Xion's still worrying about how to look after anyone who gets trapped here (which will be relevant in a few days, JASON TODD), but that last statement gets her to look over in some confusion and concern. ]
[ Xion blinks up at the new person, tilting her head. Quickly she seems a little sheepish. ]
You think so...? It's been really helpful! I've been learning a lot. [ Though she won't rise from her seat, Xion will shut her dictionary (using a finger to keep her place) and smile up at him. ]

[Tarvek starts touching the stocks, trying to find any signs of damage or weaknesses. It's very sturdy, anyone being placed here would be helpless]
He could make anyone stand here for hours, maybe a full day. It's once another reason to make sure not to unnecessarily make him angry.

It's not like I plan to.

Hi, Percy. [ Her smile makes her eyes crinkle a little. It's affectionate, if not precisely cheerful. ]
... that's weird. Why do we need an outside jail if we already have an inside one? [ Her mouth pulls to one side. ] That seems like a waste of food.
