It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss.
This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. If there's any questions or requests, please send a PM or shoot a PP to robowest.
You and me both. [He rolls an apple over his knuckles, holding it out for one of the horses.] You'd be surprised how self-sufficient horses can be. [And because Harry already knows...] Usually I can talk to them, but that part of my powers got tapped off, too. I still don't get how the Sheriff did it.
[ Harry lifts an eyebrow, but doesn't comment on the power. He supposes being a demigod would lend Percy loads of unusual talents like talking to animals. ]
I try not to think about it too much. [ Which is to say he thinks about it way too much and it's driving him mad. ] D'you think it's more likely that they did something to us, or there's just something...off about this place that cancels out our abilities?
It's more likely we're somewhere that our abilities are just locked out since I'm guessing your magic's genetic? [He doesn't bother specifying that his demigod abilities are obviously part of his DNA.] If we're in someone else's territory, we might be in a spot where no matter what we do they still have an advantage over us. You've never been stripped of your magic, have you?
Not exactly, but I've lost my wand before. [ Or had it taken from him, as was usually more often the case when he couldn't use magic. ] But this is different somehow. I think you're right - I think there's something they've done to cancel them out completely like this.
[ A sigh. And they're no closer to figuring out the truth of it. ]
Probably has something to do with the invisible barrier that's set up that we can't even find. It'd explain why our Sheriff's a robot, too. They usually aren't affected by stuff like that. But then again we all woke up without any idea how we got here. I'm not saying we underwent any genetic altering but...[Yikes.]
There are people here who are pretty mortal but still have magical items that got de-powered. That's why I'm leaning more toward "something's blocking us." So now we figure out how to unblock it.
[ Thanks for that, Percy, Harry will think about being genetically altered when trying to fall asleep tonight. ]
Something tells me that's not going to be any easier than anything else we've tried to figure out. The sheriff mentioned...something about rewards. Think there's a way we could get one like that without having to kill anyone?
[Have fun with your existential crisis, Harry! Percy certainly does.]
He keeps stressing that it's about effort and merit. If we put effort into something else, like trying to solve the murders and everything? It's probably possible. But I don't know what "rewards" means from him either.
As long as we're entertaining, right? [ Or...something like that. He can't come up with another sick reason why the "employers" would set all this up. ] Rewards could very well be the opposite of that. They'd find some way to twist what we ask for into something we'd never want.
Possibly. I'm think it's more like they're so small that they aren't a big impact in the longrun but they're just enough to leave us hopeful that if we keep playing we can get something bigger. Some people are greedy. You don't think that'd work on someone else?
If it's not enough...? [He considers that for a moment.] We try harder. The important thing is we can't give up just because what we're doing isn't working the way we want it to. I hate that that's our answer.

[They're so chipper today, aren't they.]

[ He thinks of Malfoy on the Astronomy Tower, wand pointed at Dumbledore.
Ha. Chipper indeed. ]
I keep hoping no one will die this week, but...what if what we're doing isn't enough?

[ Or they get killed, but he at least has the tact not to say as much, even if they're both thinking it. ]
