It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss.

[ Xion tilts her head as Papika tries to find the right word, wondering about it. ]
Okay! I'll try.
[ Taking a moment to bend down and pat Pluto on the head, Xion considers the support beam.
It doesn't seem that hard. She's done tougher things on missions, right?
Well. Her climb up isn't elegant, and it takes her a few (at least) moments (longer than however it took Papika), but eventually she manages to clamber up onto the roof. Upper arm strength! ]
Hey! I made it... [ Xion settles, huffing slightly. ] That wasn't too bad.
Hehe, thanks! [ Xion will take the offered seat, not even thinking twice before swinging her legs out over the void and letting them dangle. ]
I guess you could say it was part of my job back home. [ Which. It sort of was, sort of. She's had A LOT of experience with dangling from ledges and having to pull her whole body weight up. ]
But you must be, too! After all, you climbed up here first.
Oh! Um... I went on missions and things like that. [ Tilts her head. Is that a complete enough explanation? ] I had to explore, report back on what I found.
[ papika can't judge since she is still !!!! over school ]
They keep trying to teach us about stuff that I don't really understand [ since she skipped all the fuckin grades to be in the same class as cocona and had no formal education before that ] but it is cool!
[ at the question about the wish, though, she takes a little longer to answer. ]
I... don't know! I already got what I really, really wanted, so it's not really my wish to make...
[ That makes her laugh. ] I think I'd probably feel the same way. But I bet it'd be fun to go!
[ ... oh. Papika ... had a wish she wanted, and it was already granted? Xion ends up blinking at her. ] Oh. I mean, that's good! I'm glad you got your wish. So, is it your partner's wish you're trying to make come true?
Wish ... wish? Is there a difference? [ ???? deeply confused. It sounds like Papika is talking about something different than she's been thinking of. ]
[ her eyebrows furrow together as she tries to figure out how to explain. ]
I don't think she really knows what she wants? Umm, like when you look up at the sky and see a shooting star, and someone tells you to make a wish... is there something that immediately comes to mind? Like one great, big wish that you want more than anything! Or do you just think of a bunch smaller wishes because you aren't sure what you're looking for?
[ That produces a different character of stillness than Xion's usual quiet thinking moments. She holds herself carefully, and stares at her knees while she thinks about it. Then, gently: ]
I know what I'd wish for.
[ The moment passes once she looks up at Papika again. ]
Although, if I didn't have that, it'd definitely be the second one. Is that the situation your partner is in?
I think she knows what she would wish for without actually knowing that she knows. But, her wish... it's something really complicated... more than she's aware.
[ she's fidgeting again. ]
My wish was to meet her! So, there isn't really anything else I want as much as I wanted that.
Oh! Then, is she like your best friend? [ Wishing to meet someone that much... the idea makes Xion smile, even if the rest of it ... well, she understands it, but without context it's difficult to do much with. Plus, she's starting to wonder if pressing about this is making Papika uncomfortable, so maybe it's better to leave it alone. ] It sounds like you care about her a lot.
Watching Papika light up like that was like ... practically physical, that transformation was so pronounced. Xion actually sits up straighter and stares, her mouth forming a little o of wonder. ]
Wow... hehe, that's amazing! I can feel how much you care for her. [ She looks down and away, her own smile turning a little sad. ]
I have friends back home that I love, too. I hope ... that they're okay without me. [ Xion tilts her chin back, then beams at Papika. ] I'm sure you'll make it home! There's no way you won't see her again. And until then, she's still with you. [ She lifts a hand and places it over her chest. ] Right here.
[ Xion's smile disappears in a flash, replaced by a look of shock. Physical contact is still so new, so Papika reaching out to her like this feels strange. Not bad, just ... strange.
We're definitely going to make sure you go home!
Xion looks stunned for a long moment before, finally, smiling. Her brows draw up and together. She almost ... looks sad. But she powers through it a second later, grinning in earnest, so it's hard to tell if that moment really happened at all. ]
Yeah! You too, Papika! We'll figure out how to get home together!
