WEEK THREE

CURRENT POPULATION: 35 It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings. ... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours! Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss. This post functions as the general mingle post for the week. Wanted Posters and other small events will be posted in top levels below. [ Right at the start of the week, Xion can be found staring at the corpse tree with a very stony expression. She'll stare until the bodies are cut down, and then unceremoniously take her leave.

This week, Xion still hangs out with the Sheriff, curling up on the steps up to the Sheriff Station with a book in her lap, but it is noticeably less frequent than last week. She also, unlike the previous two weeks, cannot be found in the graveyard at all. ]

[ Today you can find Xion in the hotel kitchen, trying to cook. Keyword being trying. She's slowly learning, with some help, but she's still very new at this and honestly still doesn't know the names for many kitchen tools, meaning she just kinda. Has. To guess.

Today if you walk into the kitchen, or are even just passing by, you might hear a yelp of total dismay, followed by groaning. Trying to use an old-fashioned egg beater has not worked out for her. There is egg white just, just everywhere. ]

Jeez...

[ Well. Time to start to clean up. ]

tuesday;

[ Rather than hole up in the hotel, which is tempting to do, Xion decides to try and keep up her habit of wandering. This week she ends up at the watering hole with a bunch of books and her dog. For a time she can be found beneath the shade of a tree, peacefully reading and petting Pluto's head. At other times she can be found playing fetch with her dog, which ... is making her laugh and smile, like a lot, which has honestly become pretty unusual for her, so that's something.

At least, until Pluto, with a flick of his head, sends the stick flying into the lake.

And then goes charging in after it. ]

Pluto, no! Don't!

[ There he goes, soaring majestically off the dock and creating a big splash. Hopefully you weren't fishing or hanging out nearby.

Especially not when Pluto emerges from the water sopping went and tries to convince you to take his stick and play fetch some more. ]

wednesday-thursday afternoon &/or wildcard;

[ When she's not busy cleaning up various messes, Xion can be found at the general store, looking at various items (it seems almost like she's looking for something ... heavy), or ... at the mines, just kind of standing nearby and frowning severely at the entrance. ]

[ Russell's at the watering hole because he's trying to fish again... And not catch a bunch of trash this time! He's determined to get something good... Maybe?

Once again, it's kind of different fishing in the real world as opposed to dream world? Yeah.

Though... If one thing he didn't expect is to see a dog rush by him -- Russell actually almost tips over..! He catches himself though so don't worry! Sadly the fishing pole... Falls into the water, and Russell can only stare at it. ]

Oh--...

[ Fishing pole.. :(

Upon seeing the dog though, Russell also just stares at the dog... Then around!? Someone help him... What does he do with dog??? Russell looks a bit nervous too... ]

[ oh my god this poor boy

Xion ends up yelping as she runs over. ]

Oh no! Your fishing pole... I'm sorry! Pluto!

[ Her dog surfaces, looking shamefaced. ]

Pluto, you started this. Can you fetch that fishing pole?

[ Pluto's ears sink, and he looks so dejected. But he releases his stick and swims towards the fishing pole instead.

Xion stands on the dock next to Russel and just kind of. Looks concerned. Sheepish and apologetic, she looks at him and murmurs: ]

Sorry about that. Are you okay?

[guiltlevel]

No-- It's fine, it's nothing--...

[ It can fetch a fishing pole..!?

That's kind of neat! Russell doesn't really have much experience with dogs, or well... Anything for that matter. Russell looks a little bit concerned though, she's going out of her way to get the fishing pole and all..! He looks over to watch the dog for a quick moment then stares down at the ground. ]

I'm okay... I'm sorry I got in the way. You don't have to do this, you know.

...would you like some help?

[ Well, she's already helping, grabbing a towel and wiping at the mess. ]

Oh, Rin!

[ Xion looks ... a little guilty as the other girl starts to help her clean up the mess. Xion sets the egg beater down and goes to wash her gross hands off before she, too, starts the effort. ]

Thanks. I'm still learning... and I don't really know how to use anything that's in here. [ eh heh. ] But I think I'm getting better! ... a little.

[glaring]

[ She's giggling juuuust a little. ]

Everyone has to start somewhere. I could give you some lessons, if you'd like.

[ Rin wouldn't be a Fate/ character if there wasn't 800 conversations about cooking tbh.... ]

[A towel sails across the room, tossed by a helpful passerby, and flops gently onto Xion's head.]

Need a hand, short stuff?

H-Hey!

[ Her hands flail a little until she can crab the towel, and she sheepishly lifts up the edge to peep out from under it. With a somewhat guilty smile she says, ]

Um, hi, Natalie. I'm--! .... um, figuring it out?

[ help her. making a cake is way harder than she thought it would be. ]

[She glances around the room at every bit of egg there is to be seen, before looking back towards Xion.]

You sure about that?

[But she grabs another dishrag and steps forward to help her clean up.]

What were you even trying to make?

[ After playing the graveyard keeper for a while, and then bartender the week after, Claire is trying his hand at being the shopkeeper for the third week in this honeymoon from hell. It's a running gag at this point. ]

[ why is he like ... everywhere she ends up wandering each week. how strange.

BUT ANYWAY, Xion tilts her head and blinks at his greeting.

And then bursts out laughing in a peal of surprised giggles. ]

Felix... what are you doing?

[ Said with a grin as she approaches the counter. ]

Since when do you work here?

Technically I'm not. [ Obviously... since he isn't being paid for it! ]

I wanted to learn what it's like to be a good salesman. Sure, I'm a persuasive kinda guy, but my negotiation skills are more geared towards... well, buying, rather than selling, if you will. It's good to have a balance, don't you think?

[ [It's hard to miss the sounds of commotion coming from the kitchen. Elizabeth was on her way out to the watering hole for some needed r&r but she re-routes to see what that yelp was about and arrives just in time to get splattered with some of the escaped egg and see a very distressed Xion.] ]

What happened here...

[ [She sets the book she had been carrying to the side in order to pick up a couple spare rags, one of which she brings over to Xion so they can start cleaning this mess.] ]

I'm sorry! [ oh nooooo she got egg all over her

Xion gratefully, and very guiltily, takes a rag and uses it to clean her spattered hands before working on the counter. ] Thanks. I'm really sorry! I thought I had it under control....

[Elizabeth smiles kindly at her as she beings to wipe up the mess.]

It's alright. You know what they say: no use crying over spilled-- well, it's spilled milk, not eggs, but the sentiment is there.

[And then her smile falters as she pauses momentarily, looking down at the rag in her hand before she continues]

I didn't get a chance to tell you, with all the chaos the past few days, but I'm glad you're alright. Volunteering like that was brave of you.

[He hears the yelp and sticks his head into the kitchen, noticing the mess and grinning to himself even as he steps into the kitchen.]

You know, I think you're supposed to keep the eggs in the bowl. That might help.

[ Whines at him. ]

Percy!

[ A laughing groan as she goes searching for a dish towel to start cleaning up this mess with. It doesn't take her long to find one, and she scrubs off her hands before moving back over to the counter. ]

Gee, if you're so smart, why don't you show me how it's done?

[ Makes a face at him. ]

[He doesn't exactly help, but he's eyeing the egg beater anyway.]

How hard can it be? It's just an egg beater, right? [But he's picking it up to examine it.] What're you trying to make?

[Well, this is... one hell of a mess he walked into. He's seen this kinda mess before, even if it's been a while. He looks over to Xion.]

...Not a lot of cooking experience, huh?

Um ... not really.

[ No, is what she means. Just like, flat out. Sheepish and wincingly guilty, she goes to, you know, get a dish rag. ]

Sorry about the mess. I'm trying to learn, but ... maybe I should have started with something simpler.

her latest flower search has taken her up towards the lake and she's already covered in dirt when she gets hit by the edge of the splash, so really, it's whatever; she needed to change anyway. She shrieks, surprised, but when Pluto comes bounding over to her she grins.]

Hi, Pluto! Is that a stick? Do you have a stick? Is that for me?! [Laughing, she scratches his head, takes the stick, and chucks it back in Xion's general direction. It goes surprisingly far; Yuna can't aim for the life of her but she's very strong for someone her size!!]

[ tbh rip in pieces and also bear traps BUT ANYWAY

Well, at least Yuna doesn't seem upset! She stares in surprise and starts to smile almost immediately at Yuna's reaction. Pluto is honestly just ecstatic that someone is playing with him, grinning a huge puppy grin and barking ceaselessly. He even still kinda boofs a few times while he's getting pet. And then!! the stick!! it's gone!! He bolts after it. The stick ends up sailing past Xion, but that's no problem with Pluto on the task. Xion just bursts out laughing in his wake and moves over to Yuna. ]

Yuna! I'm sorry you got wet. But isn't Pluto the best?!

[Well. Jason was hanging out nearby. Now he's just soaking wet, staring at the dog???? The dog is pardoned immediately, but he does cast a glance over to Xion, having heard her shout before the big splash.]

... Cute dog. [HE'S COLD AND WET. WHY.] Is he yours?

[ ...... OOPS ..........................................

It's a very sheepish Xion that moves towards him, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly. ]

Uh huh. His name is Pluto. Are ... you okay? [ he better be okay because pluto is still here with his stick looking VERY EXCITED and wagging his tail. he boofs around the stick. ]
