It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
Except there is, perhaps, a few things amiss.

[ Chirped cheerfully before she's, you know, reminded of her own failures and tones it down a little. ]
I think I went too fast. Or maybe I just wasn't holding it steady enough... [ frown frown, think think. For what it's worth, there is a recipe book open nearby. It got caught in the egg white carnage too, and she takes a moment to dab at the pages before cleaning the counter itself. ]
A cake? [That's...cute, what the fuck. He's peering at the recipe book but even with the egg goop out of the way he's Suffering.]
With this thing it's probably going too fast, yeah. Eggs get frothy if you beat them too much. [Why does he know this?] My mom bakes at home, I've watched her enough times to know that much. Got any eggs left?
[ Xion watches the motions of his hands without really seeing, though she will automatically reach out to take the bowl once he's done. Let's try beating these eggs again. ]
... I want to protect everyone, [ she says softly. ] I want ... to get everyone home safe, more than anything. I don't know how to do that, yet, but I'm going to keep trying until I figure it out.
[He'll let her, but he'll be close by monitoring to make sure a repeat performance doesn't occur.]
I think you're doing something good by trying to keep everybody's morale up. That's one of the most important things here. And it's important to want to protect everyone and everybody getting home safely, but what about after that?
