It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

It is impossible to tell--it may simply have been investigative in nature. I certainly cannot blame any who would not wish to leave a stone unturned in the pursuit of the truth.
[If he and Papika had heaved the stone out of the corpse water, maybe they could've found Simon's killer???
Not sure I'd call it that. Tarvek's was emptied out, and Nisha's...
[was.
you know, devoid of entrails. noct's definitely making a face from remembering the sight—he's not looking forward to doing this at all, but he's taking one for the team here.]
["as quickly as possible" is definitely not quickly enough for noct.
honestly, the smell is putrid and his stomach is not the strongest when it comes to this sort of thing.
(you think a guy who can't handle tomatoes on his burger can deal with rotting corpse scent?)
there are definitely a couple of points where noct has to stop to force back a gag—and a heave or two—
it's probably better if he focuses on cleaning up tarvek's grave instead, but he's trying his best for the cause. he was going to to do this all on his own anyway if barnham didn't come to help him out.]
[That's... not something Barnham will blame him for. While he's used to corpses and crime scenes, he's not used to dealing with the clean up afterwards; he sets his jaw and shovels, grimly, until the grave is properly full.
It's probably not the best they could've done with the body but...for now, it's the only real chance they've got.
He breathes out a huffed breath of air when he's finished, sticking the shovel in the ground outside of the grave and grimaces to himself.

Some things were dug up in the graveyard the other day. [as in, he found it like that, not that he dug it up himself.]
...Just wanted to put things back where they belong. [though he scrunches his nose a bit, because rotting corpses and all.]
no subject
...ew.....]
Do you...require any assistance?
[He's not excited to handle graves but it must be done.]
no subject
[though he should warn.] It's... not very pretty, though.
[icky. it's icky, barnham!]
no subject
I assure you, I am no stranger to crime scenes.
[And corpses and dead bodies.]
Let us continue.
no subject
[witch-burning and all!!
no but really, mostly just because barnham is competent and knightly and shit. you know, the usual.]
Thanks. It's pretty bad—I'm not even sure why any of that stuff got dug up to begin with.

Eugh.
no subject
But he nods, understanding.]
Then there is something else to it... something that shall likely cause us problems in the future.
[LOVELY.]
Let us get this over with.
no subject
[for better or for worse. and it's usually always "for worse."
either way, it's onwards towards the graveyard and what it holds, which is basically a mess in the spots he mentioned.
...and it smells worse. so much worse. unsurprisingly, the rotting corpse smell gets worse before it gets better.]
no subject
[Because they can't ever win.
And it... it sure is gruesome, god.
Barnham's jaw sets, eyes narrowed, but he just reaches for the shovel. TIME TO GET THIS DONE...AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE GOD.]

Horrible.]

he just kind of lets out a groan; he feels pretty queasy from the lingering smell in the air and just how much of that he had to see.]
That's... enough grossness for one day.
no subject
Barnham just gestures to Noct, quickly.]
Let us move on from this place.
[OUTTA HERE. ASAP.]
no subject
[ironic, since they're outside!? please, free him of this.]
And maybe a bucket. And a shower. Maybe two.
no subject
[This is all pretty disgusting and awful!!!]
We have done what we can here.
[At least the further they get away, the easier it is to breathe...]
... How truly deplorable, this place is. There is no respect for the dead in the least.
no subject
[it definitely gets easier to breathe, but he still feels like that rancid smell is burned into his nostrils.
he deserves a medal for not puking on barnham's shoes yet, probably.]
no subject
[Thanks for not vomiting on his shoes.
He glances at Noct, and then waves him off.]
Go on then. Bathe, find something to settle your stomach with, and take a breather.
[no vomiting.]
no subject
[but he's kind of just giving a half-hearted wave before he heads off because. ugh. ugh.
he'll be fine, but somehow that situation was worse than on friday, so.
you know.
icky.]
