It's a rather quaint town when you get down to it. At least, that's what the Sheriff would argue. Warm and dry in the mornings and afternoons with a brisk coolness in the evenings. The perfect type of weather to just sit out on your rocking chair and observe the comings and goings.
... Of course, there's not much in the way of comings and goings when there aren't any actual people here to watch. Nevertheless, don't let that get you down! The town is your oyster and those roosters won't stop crowing until everyone's out of bed. Up and at 'em, rise and shine, it's time to make the day yours!
After all, there's nothing wrong with the town today and you might just want to savor it while it lasts.

Sounds brutal. [For that, he actually does sound serious because he doesn't know how well he'd do if he wasn't as tall and muscular as he is now. On the other hand…] Speed is sometimes way more important than strength. [A light smile.]
Annabeth used to rely on speed, too. Saved my butt a bunch of times when I couldn't dodge fast enough. Sometimes being like a girl isn't that bad. [But he's biased, ignore him. He allows his eyes to flicker to her leg though.] How's your training going now?
A lot of my comrades think it's worse than it is. They think I don't notice them pitying me - but then I kick their butts in practice.
[God, she misses that. She'd give almost anything to be able to go back and spar with the rest of the Shinsengumi again, but that... probably won't happen for awhile. If ever.]
Miss Annabeth was really amazing! Would that there were more girls like her. [She has such admiration for anyone who's able to fight as a girl, honestly.] ...but a girl can't be a samurai, at least... not according to the bushido.

It's going a lot better! The more I work at it, the easier it is to balance. I only fell down three times yesterday!

...oh, but the bushido... I guess the simplest way to explain it is that it's an honor code? It governs the way the ideal man is supposed to behave so that we don't bring shame to ourselves or our comrades.

I'd be honored to practice with you.

I'm not even really sure what our honor code is or even if we have one. Our style of fighting is a little...[Unorganized? Chaotic? Messy?]...unique.
