The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:
One of your own is gone.
And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.
Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for the mod replies. Anything to discover or not to will be indicated during the course of the thread.
After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. If there are any questions, please shoot a message either to this journal or at robowest.
[ What if she doesn't want to do what the minuscule text tells her to!!
But, well, why not. Sara's at least making sure to go first and to make sure Xion doesn't do anything protagonistic and limp past her dramatically or something. ]
[ Can everyone just!! Let her live!!!!! God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway Sara just gets a severe frown. She won't limp past her or anything jeez!! ... but if she can, she'll break away from the older woman to check out a different teller booth on her own once they've both gotten close enough. ]
It's burnt to a crisp and the head is blackbagged in the same way the Sheriff had for previous executions. It looks like any poking at the charred thing will probably turn it into ashes.
But, hey. You can probably tell by the clothes that this means Elizabeth is dead. ]
[ uh yeah, she's not touching that. She is, however, sucking her breath in sharply. That sure is a dead body she's never actually talked to, but... wow. ]
... You and I really aren't having any luck with this.
[ Without any apparent squeamishness she'll get real up close and friendly with that corpse. Not touching it, just looking it over for anything else she might notice. ]
Do you recognize whose clothes these are?
[ She wants to check the rest of the place, too. Which she'll hobble off to do! Anything else here of note? ]
post office
But here she is at the post office anyway, going to take a peek inside and hopefully all is calm, all is bright. ]

Here's Xion, on one crutch, following her silently and thinking the worst. ]

There isn't anything in the main post office but their attention might be caught over by the teller booths. Go take a peek? ]

But that's it! Y'all are good, ladies. ]

[ look, Sara's never talked to her, but at least she knows what people look like. ]

[ Xion's spent time with her. The description is enough to jog her memory.
She'll pick up those matches, turning the pack over in her hand before just hanging onto it.
Elizabeth's corpse gets another glance. Vaguely sad, but .... nothing else. ]
I don't think we can move her like that. We should head for the Sheriff Station.

Let's go.
