The town is quiet, eerily so. All animals, all chatter, all gusts of wind have come to a complete stop this morning. A tumbleweed passes by through the center of town and the rocking chair on the Sheriff's porch sways but remains silent. Everything is muted and as the door of the hotel opens, the only sensation that rings utterly true today is this:
One of your own is gone.
And now, as the rules state, it is your job to discover their fate.
Welcome to the investigation post! If your character decides to search an area, please post the name of the location in your header and wait for the mod replies. Anything to discover or not to will be indicated during the course of the thread.
After the body is discovered, an announcement will be made and characters are free to spend the rest of the afternoons how they like. If there are any questions, please shoot a message either to this journal or at robowest.
He turns around, without TOUCHING IT, PERCY, and stalks right back out of the room. Now he's on a hunt. He ducks in and out of each suspiciously open door to get a glance at what is inside the room.] Check the other rooms!
You! Are! Ten! [...but he's listening. Percy's going to check Manfred's room first since it's across the hall, leaving Damian to check Nui and Russell's room.] Yell for me if you find anything else!
[Please let there be nothing in these rooms, gods.]
[JesUS CRISTO.] Body parts. [His voice isn't very loud.] Another foot.
[Nui's room--GOD. A WHOLE ASS WHOLE ARM. Damian comes back out looking just as terrible and sour-faced as he did when he went in.] An arm. [Goodbye, Percy.
[Why. Whywhywhy. He's already out of Manfred's room by the time Damian comes out of the second room, immediately scanning the second floor before bolting down the stairs after him.]
Other hand and an arm in Manfred's room, one in the bed and one in the sink. Check the lounge, I'll take the kitchen and dining room. We'll both check the bath house. [And away they go.]
Damian, of course, sticks his arm out to tell Percy to fucking stay back. It'll just be body parts, right? Or a body... like... Ana's body or something. IT'S NOT GONNA BE ANYTHING BAD AT ALL.
But just in case:] Don't come. [Anyway, he races Percy to the door because he knows how stubborn Percy can be. ALSO I TAG NEXT, SUCK IT TY.]
He stalls just briefly upon realizing who's room it is....and because his legs are longer he's striding forward and literally picking Damian up by the back of his shirt and carrying him like that into the room so SHUT UP ANNA.]
I can handle this just fine. [Except now they're both in the doorway of the room and there's probably something they don't want here. How bad is it?]
And sliced into thick slabs -- kind of like a really ugly roast. It's stack on top of each other haphazardly and as they step in, the top one just sort of... slides off and splats against the floor.
Ew.
Oh, and all the organs are missing so that's fun. ]
[...he's kind of stunned but at least he won't drop Damian? He does set him on his feet though and just sort of stares.]
I can see that. Check the bathroom, I'm checking out the rest of the floor. I'll meet you on the next one when it's clear. [BYE. Let's not spend more time in here than we need to?]
The stairs, on the other hand, depending on who goes first, has a very innocent organ sitting there and is likely to be slipped on by the person walked down.
[Luckily, Percy has fast enough reflexes that he sees it and he manages to sidestep enough that he sort of just. Crashes into the bannister and twists his foot. There's a sharp hiss but he's standing and also yanking Damian back to stare at it.]
...is that...[Oh hell no.] ...we need to find the rest. And not leave this in the open. I don't want anybody else tripping on it.
[So clearly the logical thing is he's taking his over-shirt off and just sort of picking up the heart. This is gross and weird and fuck everything about Fridays.] Keep moving. Hit the kitchen first and the dining room, then the lounge and the bath house. C'mon.
[There's a shudder at the intestines in the sink.]
This isn't what I asked for when I woke up this morning. [But one hand is still holding the heart in his shirt and the other grabs the door before it can swing closed. What's behind door number 1, ominous meta text?]
Damian wishes he hadn't kicked the fucking fridge door. His face grows tight and serious. He doesn't answer Percy for a long time. Just... staring at the fridge.]
Shit. [He's going to take his free hand and steer Damian away from the fridge before moving to grab a box of cereal. He rips off the top and takes a pen out of his pocket, scrawling HEAD. TO BE REMOVED. FAIR WARNING. before also pulling a blue piece of gummy candy from his pocket and chewing on it to use as a sort of tack for the note.
That won't work. But whatever. So he's trying to drag Damian out of the kitchen.] We need to keep going. Dining room and the lounge, come on.
[And off they go...?] ...how could somebody have spread her apart without anybody else noticing?
[ A fucking mystery is why, Percy. You see what you're meant to see!
For instance, those lungs caged by a pair of ribs on the dining room table. There's also a few miscellaneous organs all over the chairs. Just sort of tossed around.
They are mocking her. [He goes along at Percy's behest, but jerks his arms or shoulders away from Percy's hands. He isn't a child-- HE HAS SEEN WORSE THAN THIS BEFORE!] She was cooking for everyone. In the kitchen.
[Holy shit, there are body paRTS EVERYWHERE??] Hearing. She had to be drugged or killed elsewhere. Any screaming would have been heard.
Cutting up a body would take all night. There would have to be a weapon. Defensive wounds if she wasn't surprised.
[The lounge then... Why them?] We need to collect everything and bury it properly. With the coyotes, the Sheriff isn't wrong. Her remains need a pyre. But she was Egyptian. She had an Eye of Horus tattoo. It would be disrespectful.
[He lets him go because...Damian can take care of himself. He knows that, but he knows Damian's also ten. So he's just sort of hovering and following, nose wrinkling at the sight on the table and chairs.]
And her killer would have to know that. [He shakes his head, frowning heavily.] My guess would be elsewhere. There's no blood to indicate she was killed here, just the parts. [Gods. He feels sick by the idea, knowing that someone would actually do this to someone else.]
You think we should check people tomorrow then. A weapon. What kind of a weapon could hack somebody up like that? [...though. Too bad Percy's not from a canon point where he's met the Egyptian demigods because this unfortunately doesn't mean too much? On the other hand, he thinks of Annabeth's letter.Remember the one we held after the labyrinth, the first time, with the burial shroud? Burn one for me, Perseus.]
We find the rest, we'll build a fire. Unless Hal's an asshole and decides we need it for some messed up reason for tomorrow's trial. But we will collect everything. We can't just leave it like this.
[How bad is the lounge? Why is Percy still carrying the heart? Mysteries.]

Older. Female. Olive skin color. Well, wait, can you tell it's female by just the foot? I don't actually know.
Oh well. That's what the foot is and the cut is messy as hell. ]

There's a hand and arm in Manfred's room. Hand in Manfred's bed, arm in the sink.
In Nui's room is the whole arm -- shoulder to hand. It's stuffed halfway down the tub drain, skin peeling from where it didn't want to go. ]

Damian spots the beet-colored organ and snaps a hand out for Percy--] Organ! [--but--
RIP, if Percy trips on it, Damian is going to be going with him all the way down because he's holding on.]

They're playing with the kill. Someone got out into the inside of the hotel. [He slams his foot into the fridge. Because he's angry.
But, you know, it pops the door of it open when it sucks back from the kick. It's gonna be a head, isn't it.]
